That's a pretty sharp, odd looking coin for AU55. Basement slabber? I wouldn't drop that much cash on something that seems fishy, JMO.

"Odd looking"? Perhaps because it's been harshly cleaned... ;)

As Lance has stated perfectly, avoid the listing... And, most likely, the seller. Where there's one "bad coin", there's most likely another. No doubt you could find a better example with a little patience.

Infact, I saw an XF45 PCGS "Secure" example of that date/mintmark w/ arrows on eBay this week. She sure was a looker, and the price seemed fair... Try shooting for something like that. And, as always, if you need a second opinion, we're always here to share our thoughts and protect you from a purchase you may regret. :)

  7. Jason, steer clear of that coin. It might have the detail, but the surfaces are way beyond original.

Looking at all his auctions, all his coins graded by TPG are cleaned, polished, or corroded. I would assume all his coins are cleaned

Well sure, they buy all of them cleaned at huge discounts then turn around and sell them at prices that coins that aren't cleaned are priced at. Perfect business model if they get people to actually buy them, which they likely do because there are a lot of dumb buyers out there.

I like his eBay name though, hallelujah*coins, nothing hallelujah about those coins they're selling. ;)

This is the one I really want. Just need the owner to part with it. By the way the reverse above almost fooled me. Sometimes with those scans the coin is much crisper in hand. I didn't see any whiz marks or zings in the coin. Too bad...

That is the sellers grading service? Doesn't matter, the coin has been harshly cleaned and is XF details at best. An easy coin to avoid especially at that price.

I think I bought a $2 coin from them once. When I got it they had sent me alot of extras such as baseball cards, coupons, cut outs from ceral boxes and papers talking about God and trying to convert people to Christanity. Guess they wanted me to come back even though I got 2 and half dollars worth of silver for 2 dollars and free shipping.
