Another skunk box of halves. That's 7 skunks in the last 8 boxes. Ugh.
2 Roosies in my box of dimes.

A lot of roll searchers mark their coins. Many use Sharpies. Rick Brown uses a counterstamp to mark them. 'Nuff said.

On a more serious note, I searched $150 in CWR Halves today, which I can only assume were dumps. Got one dirty edge 40%er. So edge checkers, keep that in mind. Also, another $160 or so in halves, only got a proof 1976 S (clad). And it's seen better days.
Oh, and I went to a bank and asked for halves/large dollars. One teller said she had some big dollars that were "old and really dirty." That oftentimes means good news, but when I bought them, they were some of the nastiest, dirtiest Ikes I've ever seen. Like, been at the bottom of a dirty well for 20 years Ikes. I'll probably cash 'em in at my dump bank. Maybe I'll take a pic tomorrow, just for fun.

Thanks. I'm really brand new to all this stuff. Ironically, just earlier today my friend was showing me a penny with (if I remember correctly) 112 stamped into it. That was my first time seeing a counterstamp (now I know what to call it, thanks for that)....and I manage to get one of my own a few hours later!

Hopefully you know I was joking. There are many counterstamps around. Some early ones are highly collectible, but there's a lot of different ones. Really, it depends on the collector. More modern series and dates don't really bring much of a premium. Here's a Masonic one I found in a box of cents: 1951 D Wheat Cent Obv small.jpg

Three boxes of halves. Got one 90%, three 40%, and a 1980s. What do you guys do with all the proofs you find?

I had some extra time today, so decided to stop by a few banks. I think I forgot what a silver half looks like. Sifted through nearly $2000 in halves and found nothing. $1200 of that I was pretty sure were drops from someone else...really worn and dog eared paper rolls. When I went to pick up my halves today, one bank forgot to order. At the other, one of the tellers pulled up $500 in halves I new were a dump but I bought them anyway because she wanted to get rid of them and they are quite nice there. Plus you never know, sometimes you find a couple rolls that weren't searched through.

The box didn't have anything worthwhile either. Would have been a depressing day had I not been buying dimes and quarters on my little trip. Picked up 7 roosies and 2 silver quarters in all. Plus I bought a box of nickels at the end of the day and found my first buffalo nickel. It was an ender to boot. Tried like heck to read the date but no luck.

Have one additional box of halves coming tomorrow. This bank usually does well for me, so hoping for something decent.

Bummer Dude, I hope they start tapping into an old pallet for you soon so you can break this dismal streak. Change suppliers or not possible?

Unfortunately, I've got a pretty diverse group of banks that I order from...I think it's just the area right now. In fact I'm losing some banks after they've been acquired by bigger banks. One teller tells me it'll cost me $50 per box for her to continue ordering me halves. I laughed, said no thanks, and walked out the door. What a joke...meanwhile 3 other branches continue to order for me.

I have plenty of places I can order from, but at this point I'm hitting the point where the return on my time is not worth the effort. I'm toying with some other nest egg building ideas, but I do love the silver.

    25$ of CWR pennies.

Found 844 coppers as well as an entire roll of wheats! Which included a 1910, 1911, and a 1916d. I couldnt believe someone rolled 50 wheat cents and handed them into the bank lol. Found a total of 63 wheats and also found a 2002p dime in one of the rolls.. made me laugh haha

I feel you, Ace. It's getting to the point with me where I'm losing motivation to do this any longer. There's easier ways to make extra cash.

Was pretty disappointed... two of my banks said they "forgot" to order my coins this week... AGAIN. Hopefully I'll be picking up 3 boxes of nickels tomorrow and 2 boxes of dimes on friday, but I feel kinda crappy about it :/ However, I did pick up $300 of mixed CWR and BWR quarters and got 2 silvers, my first silver quarters from rolls ever, out of about $4k now! :D

EDIT: Oh, and I got a 1 pound coin that was just bouncing around in the counting machine because it was too thick to go through, along with 3 canadian quarters and a dime, all clad. Made the day a little better :)

My wife's car broke down this afternoon so I had to rescue her and buy a new fuel pump and filter. So my plans of dumping and picking up as well as visiting the coin shop were foiled. I did manage to dump 3 boxes of halves and pick up two of the four ordered before having to come back to work. Here are the meager results
    Box 1 - 1 x 1967
    Box 2 - 1 x 1966

Slow start of the month. Did box of dimes, got a 1960 Canadian that was an ended. Two boxes of halves yielded 3 40%
