Hey guys. As a young numismatist i often find myself just sitting down and looking at my coins. Its spring break from school and i find it so relaxing and nostalgic to wake up early, pack my coins into a bin, set on the couch and just look through all my coins admiring the beauty (of the BU ones) and reminiscing on when and where i bought them (obviously not every coin brings back memories but you know what i mean) directed towards you older and more experienced collectors, how often do you just ait down and look at your coins?
Not a day goes by that I don't look at least on of my coins. Yesterday's coin of the day was: The toning on this coin appears almost liquid and it has always been one of my favorites.
There are so many of my coins that I can picture exactly how they look in my mind, so there is no need to get them out of the SDB to admire them. Chris
Yeah not very often. Kind of a hassle to get to them and then put them away. About the only time I glance at a few in hand is if I get something new and have to put it away. Most of my nicer stuff is photographed and on my spreadsheets if I need to remember what something looks like. I do agree that many coins bring back memories. Its a major pain posting this without tapatalk...
This week has been insane for me - as a graduate student, April is when all things are due, and finals are approaching... so last night I sat down and organized my coins. SO RELAXING.
Depends. For most of my coins, (the ones I am not actively pursuing the series), maybe once every 5 years. If I haven't collected something in a while, (say Sassanid), then I might pull out what I own just to refresh my memory. So, if I am pursuing them, maybe once every 6 months. For rolls of things like WL halves, barbers, SL quarters, silver dollars, etc I haven't looked at them since I bought them I believe. Chris
I look at my toned Franklins about 2-3 times a week. Every other week or so I'll take them outside and just sit on my porch and stare at them with direct sunlight.
About once a year for the junk silver at SDB. About every other trip to SDB for the others. The ones at home - clad and copper-zincs about once a week and sit and enjoy them - looking, sorting, dreaming. Other SDB items I check about two times a year close up and personal. I usually get a office and drag my husband in to help me. I love those moment, but don't love all the town coming up to the window to peak and see who is inside. Yeep, they really do. Amazing. I can't even park my car in the bank parking lot without it being part of the news. Seriously.
