I still haven't received the last coin for my PCGS submission in the mail, but am expecting it this week. Because I had missed the deadline for the last Quarterly Grading Special PCGS offered, I checked to see what this quarters was. It looks like its a 4-for-3 deal. http://www.pcgs.com/ccspecial.html What I want to know is : It says Coin with a Dragon, I know this is a probably a stupid question, but can any coin be submitted, not just a coin with a dragon on it like the Chinese coins or whatever? I could send in an indian head, bust half, large cent, and standing liberty quarter? It says valid for collectors club members with good standing. I thought I remembered the last special saying collectors club members or authorized dealers. I received and am submitting a form through a local authorized dealer, can I still take advantage of this offer? There are separate boxes to check on the submission form for collectors club or authorized dealer.
I generally ignore these specials, there are just too many conditions or they only apply to a niche market. NGC once offered free crossovers for ANACS coins and the like which would give you an incentive to send in other invoices with the deal.
Before you can take advantage of this "tremendous" offer you MUST be authorized to submit coins directly to PCGS. You must either be a Collectors Club member ( http://www.pcgs.com/join/ $49 - $129 - $199 - $299 per year ) or a PCGS Authorized Dealer (Operate a B&M Store Front or equivalent (upon recommedation) for at least 3 years). You "might" find a dealer who would submit these on your behalf but s/he only gets one submission per quarter and may prefer submitting his/her own coins for this grading special. I personally do not care for this particular "special" since and will not be submitting anything.
I have found a dealer who will let me submit using his account. It does say quarterly special submissions are unlimited during the second quarter, but does that just mean total number of submissions received from everyone? So the Coin with a Dragon thing is just completely random? Also, if I have 5 coins I want to send in, can I just pay for 4? Or does this apply specifically to 4 coin submissions?
