my bad... didn't see the "ddr" part of the slab. overlooked it... ok, i am now confused. is it the 1939, rev of 1938? or is it the 1939, rev of 1940? there is some kind of "variety" early on and i can't tell them apart.
the steps of the 38 reverse are wavy ~~~~~ where the steps of 40 have shall we say book ends and straight steps |=====|
Picked up this little lady from a local shop. A few unfortunate hairlines away from a 64 grade. One of these days I'll send it off - I'm guessing PCGS gives it a 62-63 grade. I like buying these fives, but a set that I KNOW I could never even come close to finishing. LOL
Made a couple of deals and got some more hole fillers this week. Thank you silverfool for the VDB, and Cazkaboom for the buffs!
Todd - Nice Morgans - as always - this guy's got a collection who would knock your eye out !! I am always impressed with your DMPL's & PL's - every time I see you. Nice job. I thought I'd add my newest NON Barber - for my Dad's Birth Year Collection...
It's too soon to tell, but I am pretty sure I just picked up a 1981 s type 2 set for $4 at a yard sale... Bought two sets, from the naked eye the mint marks look vastly different between sets...meaning one should be regular and the other should be type 2! Fingers crossed...
Here are photos of my two 1981 S Sets... Set 1: Kennedy Half and SBA Mintmarks Set 2: Kennedy Half and SBA Mintmarks What do you think?
My newest ancient empress. This reverse is a bit on the scarcer side then usual. This one also looks like she has a mustache....considering there isnt much written on here, she may have . Severina (274 - 275 A.D.) AE Antoninianus O: SEVERINA AVG, Diademed and draped bust right on a crescent. R: PROVIDEN DEOR, Fides standing right holding two standards, facing Sol standing left holding globe in left and raising right, UXXT in ex. Ticinum mint 22mm 3.5g RIC 9 This coin may have been issued in connection with the introduction of the Sun Cult by Aurelian as the primary religion of the empire and Severina's appointment as its priestess.
