a couple of months ago i decided to give up collecting and sell my vast collection, but on wednesday i went for wander around a local flea market and couldn't resist looking in the coin boxes. what a surprise i found a 1918 kings norton penny in vf condition for the princely sum of 10 pence. i may put it on ebay for the £100 or so it is worth...............................
Profiting from others who collect is not 'collecting'. If you had the habit, you would be keeping the coin as a start to your new collection. Collectors love their coins for what they are and not for what they are worth. Leaving such a find at the flea market would have been just plain wrong so you should not feel bad about finding it a home with someone who can love it.
i think it was a combination of becoming frustrated in not being able to buy the coins i wanted and successfully completing my collection of civil war coins (english civil war that is). however i may just start again in the future but for now i will keep the kn penny and maybe just maybe one day i will start again. for now i just collect beer coasters.....................
