And then there were 8! Pulled a 39-D Jefferson tonight!

Was pretty psyched to find this one tonight. I was kind of half-assed looking thru this box tonight as I was talking to my sister on the phone. Saw 39 on the front, flipped it over and saw the D, and I would have jumped off the couch if I didn't already have a pulled hamstring and herniated disc! LOL. I know it's not a super rare find like a 16-D Merc, but still got me quite excited as I needed this for my folder! I guess my little siss is my good luck charm for roll searching,

Besides the 39-D I pulled out of that box I also pulled a 46-S I needed too. Now I'm I've got only 8 Jefferson's to find!

Did find 1 War Nickel too, a 45-P. All and all that box was almost as fun as pulling a bunch of silver out of a box of halves for me, not sure which is better, but both are a lot of fun.

I've included a pic of the '39-D, again I know it wouldn't grade well or anything, but I'm not a huge numismatic guy, I just like finding older things, and this was a big edition to my Whitman Nickel Folder.

I also included a pic of the Benny boy I found today in a box of halves just for the heck of it. Today was a good day.

Do you wear gloves when you search nickles? When I get done with a box my hands are near black from the grime. One of the reasons I really don't like searching nickles.

I understand how you feel. Nickels are becoming my favorite coin for some reason. Still have to be pragmatic and keep at those halves though b/c that is where the silvers at!!

Okay instead of making another thread, I decided to just post my newest acquisitions from Nickel CRHing here.

Well this was a great box tonight! No Shields, no V's, no Buffs, no exotic Foreign, not even any Wars. But....I found another 1939-D! LOL.

Before I found the 39-D though I found 2 Nickels I needed for my Whitman in the same roll. That roll contained a 1939-S, and a 1951-S. So in 2 weeks I've done 2 Nickel boxes and somehow managed to find 2 1939-D's, and a 1939-S. Pretty sweet. I'm going to give one of the 39-D's to my Mom b/c she's doing a Whitman on Nickels too (sorry Merc you'll have to get your own... ...jk).

This thread encouraged me to finally buy a Jefferson album after months of saving all pre60 nickels I've come across. I dunno what rare stuff I have in the box of rolls but this will be a nice excuse to sort them and find out.

I've been toying with buying an album for NIFC kennedy halves but meh

 

Cool Atreides. To me it makes Nickel CRH that much more fun. Yeah I never could quite get myself to keeping clad halves even if they are NIFC. Well I guess I was keeping them for awhile, but after so long I had way too many of them and it was money I'd rather be roll hunting w/ so I cashed them in.

Nickels are a lot of fun, and the only coin type that I'm CRHing right now. I haven't come across too much lately, but I've been hoarding all of the ones prior to 1964. I know it's a random number, but my brain is hard wired to look for that number, so it makes it easier to keep track of.

 

I'll trade you a '43-D I found a few days ago for it.

I thought I had one of the '45s tonight but it ended up being another 45-P, but I'll take it (another War Nickel!). My only war nickel of the box. Also found a 1938, and 2nd week in a row that I pulled a '39-S. I'll keep going for the first 4, but if I end up having only the 50-D to go for I'll probably give up and just buy one.

Chester, I didn't get to take a lunch today. I'm going to the office tomorrow, so I'll definitely get it sent out tomorrow, sorry about the delay. On the bright side, this gives me a chance to swap that other coin I was gonna send you for a '38-S, which I definitely have duplicates of.
