I guess I was kind of fascinated in all aspects of this story/presentation. The coin itself is interesting. Now that I read he wanted 11 million dollars it makes me even more interested in the story. If he truly believes with all of his desire that this coin is worth 11 million, than I am very interested in learning more. I guess I am guilty of trolling. 19lyds kind of did hit the nail on the head. I am into things of the abnormal, and find people fascinating that have true conviction in something. See, I looked at his profile, and I see a picture of him at the Annapolis Harbor. This is a very interesting place, if you have never been. You have soooo much history. There are also 10 million dollar Yachts sitting in the harbor from time to time. What was his story? Was he looking at these boats go by and imagining that he could sell this for 10 million dollars and live on a yacht? Did he truly believe that this would change everything about him? Wasn't it a Jim Croce song about chasing moon beams? These are the things I like to write about. Anyway, I found this 11 cent piece as well as the past article very interesting. I'm sorry that you guys are tired of the posts. On top of that the coin is awesome.

What if we took a piece like this and sold it in an auction format through a respected dealer? Then gave all of the proceeds to a charity instead of filling somones pockets? I see it happen on Barrett Jackson all of the time.

No, I find it fascinating. It does however, get old seeing it on many threads.

I started off saying the coin was worth $1000 to $1200. It might bring a bit more in a good holder but I'm not sure that's all that important as far as the value goes. Having a grade would help. Don't think I have seen a quality image of the coin to even guess the grade.

Can someone remind me how many threads were made about this?

Well it's really worth $1000 to 1600. Ive seen nicer examples in MS62 condition graded by NGC not sell for $1700.

I did start another thread a few days ago, not to troll, but because
I thought his ebay post was hilarious. The story behind the coin and
the reserve price certainly made me laugh, and I just wanted to
    share that laugh with others.

Sorry to have bothered some of you with this.

The coin indeed is very fascinating. 'was shocked too when I saw a thread posted here the other day showing an ebay link, and 10 million dollars! ZOMG!
The story sure is interesting too. More like a fiction. I dunno, perhaps he's telling the truth.

How about we squash all of the speculation on how much this coin is worth and throw it up on eBay with a reserve price and just let it fly. If you put the 8 million reserve, you should not be worried about it ever reaching that. But to put everyone at ease and not bash you too much in the future, just go put it on there for a 10 day or 30 day auction. That's what I think you should do, it would be the honest thing to do

    Dude...

I'm not going to argue with you but...

But if I was offered "just seven million dollars" for a coin....I would sell it in heartbeat!

Why dicker over 1.5 million? What sounds better to you? 7 Million or Zero dollars?

and why ON EARTH would you send a coin with supposedly such high value to a bottom of the barrel TPG like ACG?

    Why not NGC or PCGS?

Because the other accredited TPG's don't grade squeeze jobs.

Because he even knows it's not that rare and it's not worth that much. I've seen other penny on dimes that looked just as cool for $3500 (and none of those were getting nibbles) on eBay. No one is going to spend 10 million on this coin to beat the record of the highest price paid for a coin. He's just kidding himself and will likely die with this coin clutched in his hands. ;)

I though this was an actual mint error and not a squeeze job.

I've seen stuff sit on eBay for months and months and months.

Their are MILLIONS of people buying on eBay.

Put it on auction for 14 days with no reserve. If it does not bring any more, then that's all people wanted to pay for it...no more, no less.

Seems like your "offer" came from a fantasy place, goes good with the fantasy price...lol.

When you wish upon a star.....

It is an actual mint error, I'm just making light of the situation like most other guys do in recent months. :dead-horse:

It is an actual error, I think kookoo was being sarcastic.

The problem with this coin at this point is it's turned the owner into a narcissist. He posts his youtube video and talks about this coin in just about every thread he gets a chance to so members ask about it and give him the attention he needs. It's rather old already and its just spamming at this point.
