In my opinion, the best dealer in my area is Southern Bullion Coin & Jewelry. There are several of them in my area. They are very friendly and one particular Southern Bullion location in the north Georgia area is very honest with the customer in terms of what they can and cannot do and will sometimes turn away business and send them to another place if they cannot give a customer an answer to a certain question. I have been doing business with them for over 3 years and I have no problems with them.

I have been to both of those and I have the opposite opinion. The one with little inventory has little because he sells it cheap and fast. And seems to know what he's doing.

I looked for that shop once but the GPS couldn't find it for some reason.

That is a good one but I also like Coins and Collectibles in Kenner which is not far away.

In my area for US coins it would be R&R Coins on Ogden Avenue in Downers Grove Illinois. If you don't see it, ask. They have a lot of inventory not out on display. For only bullion sales or purchases, it would be Fox Valley Coins; either location, both are in Naperville Illinois. I have no source for paper currency or world coins. For them, I rely on the larger shows and auctions exclusively.

Just today a friend we at one asking me if a Gold Eagle (1/2 oz) MS70 was a good deal for $2095!!
I let him know it was not obviously lol

But I'll try them again since you have had a different experience then me.

Honestly, I think that it depends on what you are looking for and where the Southern Bullion store is located at. For me, since it is silver art bars that I usually buy, then I get a decent deal on them since they price them as .999 generic silver. I usually go to the Southern Bullion locations in Georgia first since there is no sales tax on bullion purchases made in Georgia. There is a sales tax on bullion in Tennessee and Alabama and as a result, the Southern Bullion locations in those two states are at a disadvantage to the ones in Georgia in terms of sales.

If you are in North San Diego County, CA, I'd stop by Carlsbad Village Coins. They have a good selection of mid range coins and are very friendly, also very honest.

I was thinking about that before you posted it. And yes I can see that they would be a great place to purchase Art Bars but I don't see it for Collector coins.

In my area I like Arlington Coins in Arlington Texas. Guys are great, awesome inventory (except saturday when I was in the market for a 42/41 P merc dime. Six weeks ago they had three but I had no money!) Mike, Pat, Jim and the rest of the crew are always having fun. In North Richland hills you can see Rob at CR Coins on hyw 26.

I am going to be in Columbus Ohio in late June, does anyone have any suggestions for decent coin shops in the Columbus area?

He's a little hard to find up a hill and then there he is with the big Morgan dollar sign. There is another significant dealer in Manchester who works with his daughter near the highway underpass. He doesn't run the shop for collectors much though.

Gate City in Nashua is pretty fair. Also Ron who runs Colonial Coins near Keene is good.

not columbus, but in cincinnati coins+ in colerain is good (good selection of usa, and a fair selection of roman and world). so is hyde park rare coins (decent usa selection, but he deals more on higher end coins). and coins+ downtown is decent (limited selection of both usa and roman), but his hours are very limited. not sure about common cents in milford, but the owner also owns hyde park rare coins, so i imagine it's similar. i've met the owner, he's a really nice guy and mainly works out of the milford store. coins+ in florence is horrible on selection (usa only, small selection). any js gold & coin store is worthless. way overpriced on everything.

I like the Jefferson Mint in Corvallis, Oregon. Owner is Dean Kennedy. Great guy, very honest. I know several dealers in Oregon and have never heard any of them say anything negative about him. Also like Rogue Valley Coin and Jewelry on Grape Street in Medford, Oregon. Huge selection. Usually 7 or 8 people working the counters at the same time. They set things aside for me that they know I like and I drive down every 3 months and pick up. 210 miles away but it's a straight shot down I-5 and well worth the drive. And last but not least, Linkville Coins and Antiques on South 6th Street in Klamath Falls, Oregon. 200 miles away from me. Owners Bob and Gayle Busby somewhat took me under their wings about 5 years ago when I was going through some very troubled times. Became great friends and they are responsible for getting me involved in this hobby. Bob is an authority on tokens and probably should write a book. Awesome folks. I'll have to check out the shop in Cottage Grove, Oregon that Statequarterguy mentioned. Didn't even know it existed.

I'm looking for a recommendation myself for the San Francisco area, primarily in North Beach or Russian Hill. I will definately consider other alternatives in the downtown area as well.

I deal with the Liberty Coin Shop in Liberty, Texas just outside of Houston, Texas. They have a large selection of Morgans.
