I justified myself to buy some proof sets a while back. I told myself I can get each type of proof set (Ike, suzie, Franklin, etc.) And collect the 1964-1970 proof and mint sets. Got the majority done, now just looking for the 1968 and 1969 proof set and the 1969 mint set.
Yeah, I see that as being my problem. I think I'm just going to limit myself to Silver Proof sets for now. I don't want to take the fun away from my circulation collecting. Do you have a set price you like to stay within for the mint sets? I know the 2012 silver set is on the mint's website for $68, so i figured for the more recent sets if I could get them at that cost or below I'd be doing good. Then i looked at the 1999 silver set and they are going for over $100 on ebay.
A price, I have never paid over $10/set I also forgot to add that I am going to be collecting everything 1995 (Birth Year) So proof, mint, silver proof, prestige, commemoratives, and 1995 DDO. Got the proof, mint and 1995 DDO, so the next thing will be the Prestige set.
There was a time (not too long ago) when they were going for over $300. You're in the right place at the right time.
That was what I was thinking. I'll try to snag the ones that are at the best price at the time. Probably one or two per month until I'm caught up.
Hey Baha I can get you a nice deal on some more high end NGC rosies if you still where looking. 1949-D Ms68 1947 MS67 FT 1946 MS67 FT 1946-D MS67 FT 1946-S MS67 FT 1956 MS67 star 1956-D ms66 star Just to name a few.
I just got this TrueView photo back from PCGS. I bought this coin from Lehigh (a cointalk member), who told me he bought it years ago when he was working on a colorfully toned 20th Century Type Collection. It was an NGC graded PF65 BN that crossed at grade to PCGS Secure Plus PR65 BN. I call this coin "Fire and Ice".
1840 or 1840-O???? I just picked up 1 more 1840 Seated Dime. but it maybe a 1840-O seated dime. there a weak small O on rev.here the photos:kewl:
Is it just a weak strike or greaser? With the amount of detail the coin has, I was surprised to see all letters in "LIBERTY" completely obliterated.
From what I can see (angle of the pictures) it looks to have a denticle ruler of a 4r which would make it a 40p. Angello could you get a straight on picture of the Obv to verify ruler measurements
This arrived today. The owner got caught up in a Heritage bidding war and later realized it wasn't important to his collection. Has this ever happened to you? Going ape for something that temporarily makes your heart beat fast, only to realize later that it wasn't the smartest purchase? I don't have a lot of commemoratives. But those I've bought struck a cord. This is one. I feel bad the winning bidder took a big loss. I sent him a little bonus. Lance.
