I just got a batch of coins back from NGC today. Overall I'm a little worried about the QC/QA over there but that can be another thread. I picked this up from my local dealer he had it listed as a MS 64 and I got it for a $8.00. It was the bright point of the batch, my first NGC star coin.

Cazkaboom One for all, all for me.

Very cool. Don't care much for how these dead folks tone (Roosies, Franklins, Washingtons) Save Lincoln (He tones beautifully) but I am loving the green in there :thumb:

That's what I thought. I had no intentions of sending it in, but I needed one more coin to have a submission of five modern coins for NGC so I thought why not. The interesting thing about the story is that the dealer had another mint set toned quarter next to this in the case. He had it graded as a 63 and it was a dollar cheaper, but not as toned with the green in it. Needless to say its currently in my Dansco of Washington Quarters. Maybe if I need a fifth coin for the economy grading tier I'll send it in.

Personally I think sending coins in to TPG unless its a big money coin whos authenticity is in question is just feeding the beast. I know many don't agree with me but to me doing lots of grading is a waste of $ most the time.

Thats pretty crazy though how your dealer sells MS63 coins for spot :D how on earth does he make a profit hehe.

Well your common date 60 that you got for 8 bucks PCGS lists at 250 bucks. now while we all know their prices tend to be high or even 3 or 4 times what they should be, even still if its 1/5 of their price thats still 50 bucks.and if ya ask me 50 bucks for a common date is a nice step up from spot :D
