Did anyone else watch the David Lawrence Auction on Ebay last night? I have never watched the auction of a very high quality 300 piece collection of Lincolns sell one-by-one! The dust has not settled but it had to sell for around a million. Some highlights: 09-S VDB 66R, 14-D 65R, numerous top-pop early years 67R, 55DD 65R, 69-SDD 2@AU. Since they were all PCGS some of the winning prices were really stupid; particularly Memorials with relatively large pops. All in all it was an eye-opening 3 hour auction. I'm waiting for all the prices to show up in tne Lawrence Auction Archive.

I did see them listed and I'm not surprised at all over the prices realized. It is a hot series and many serious collectors are involved. I saw Stacks Bowers had a set of all RD PCGS/CAC beans for the Baltimore show as well. It would be interesting to compare auction results of the two venues. With that said, I like seeing such coins selling on eBay. Especially with the overall view of the site, it is good to have a vibrant outlet for the every man to liquidate their coins and keep the big houses honest.

The best I managed was second high on one coin. I probably should have bid more, but I have won more than my share lately

I bid on several but won none. Prices got a little goofy. I really wanted the '31-D in 66RD.

There were some real losers in the set and even those got strong money.

RLM, I snagged one - nobody else wanted it.

Lance, that 31-D was really a star performer but way to steep for me. You're right about the few dogs (15-S 64RB for example) It was like bidders had to have at least one wheatie at any price.

All in all, you have to give David Lawrence credit. It was maybe the best presented coin auction on Ebay!

I missed that one - the one that no one wanted. Which one was that?

BTW, I rather like that 15-S. I it would not bother me the least to have it, but being out $3,000 definitely would.

Heck - before I could bid most of what I was interested in was moon money. I did make an offer on Buffalo nickel just to see what happened. It was listed at twice what they went for on heritage. Once my offer was rejected I just quick looking.

That's how I felt. But it was presented well.

It was pretty cool that DLRC put these up on ebay. I agree. I just wish their photos were better. Heritage would have done much better.

Yep.. me too. RLM's coming in 2nd on any is an impressive bragging right by itself.

Believe me, it was not an exemplary example. It was a $300 coin on Heritage and I only bid $250ish, but I was still very surprised to come in second.

Pretty incredible collection. The 31D was sick! I was thinking about a second mortgage to pay for it. LOL

I've been so busy lately I missed the auctions. Who's collection was that?

Is this that thing that was on ebay? Some of those prices made me want to keel over.
