In Memory of Mr. Bob Connor

Hello,
I agree with Steve's list of questions. As the facilitator of the Young Notables I have been contacted by several contributors to the Bob Connor Memorial wondering if the money had actually arrived. The answer is no. I am not even sure what amount of money is involved? I understand that people have busy lives and I would just like to see some resolution to this matter. If you donated money to this memorial please PM myself or SteveinTampa with the amount donated so we can understand how much money we are even talking about. I have contacted Rusty by e-mail several times but have not received an answer to how much money is "in an account earning interest." Thanks to all who have supported this program this year and years past. I appreciate all of the help. -Frank

Wow, i hope i am misunderstanding the situation going on here because it looks kind of fishy...i was really enjoying reading the thread about all of us coming together to help the collectors of the future in the name of a life long collector who seemed to be a great man.....i would hate to think that this rusty fellow got greedy and took all the money that was meant for the kids and kept it.....i was thinking about making a donation as well, or at least inquire as if to donations are still being accepted, but I will most likely not be doing that until this is all figured out. Yes. You have misunderstood the situation. It is not my place to add details. I just think you would feel bad to pass too much judgment if you did have all the details.

I have had many financial dealings with "R" and every transaction was great. If anything, he is the type that would short himself if there was a question of what to do.

Take care every one. I too miss being on CT very often. I miss reading the intros on all the new members and learning for the many of you that have better memories and more years with coins.

(Busy with husband - he will be 82 next month - its been a rough year).

 

The fact that someone is hesitant about donating to the Young Notables is why we need some resolution to this matter. This class has relied on the good will of donors from it's inception. Any hint of impropriety only hurts the kids and the reputation of the program.

 

Looks like a more formal summary from Rusty will be coming over the weekend.

As have you with similar results, i,am trying to carry out the family,s wishes and they

Supposed to be rapped up before i left for California but several people that had made
Pledges had failed to send them in on time which left things incomplete and unfinished.


And now it,s my fault that things havent been taking care of ! sorry but i,am not going

In Canada this was supposed to be short term situation but it has now grown to several
Months as i had mentioned before my records are in California so i cant give you any
Information regarding what has been collected or disbursed.

Up to this point and where we stand.

Dear Friends of the Bob Connor Memorial Fund

I have asked a good friend of mine Tess (Sunflower) to post this update for me as i,am presently unable to Do so.

I would first like to go over the family,s wishes which were to collect donations both monetary and non monetary Gift,s in the honor of the late Bob Connor this also included a presentation of two plaques which were going to Be supplied by his son Chris and presented to the young notables in a formal manner.

We had started collecting donations in June and we did have a set deadline but unfortunatley many of the items did Not come in on time before i had to leave for California also at the same time i was in contact with Frank with the (Young Noteables) and Chris Connor Bob,s son, i informed them that i would be sending the non-monetary donations Before leaving, in speaking with Chris he had lined up the plaques and told me they would be ready for delivery in About a week and he would contact me when there ready, i then proceeded to make the move out to California where I was employed by a small defense contractor and with in two weeks i found myself in Canada! talk about life changing! This was supposed to be short term but it has now turned in to several months, with in this time i have tried to contact Chris Connor several occasions with no success also Frank with the young notables has as well to say the least This has become very frustrating for everybody involved!

So at this point we our kind of in a neutral situation, as i informed Frank i,am in a uncomfortable situation as i,am Still trying to get ahold of Chris Connor so that we can move forward with the family wishes but this to has proved Difficult, to complicate things further since i,am not at home and do not have my personal computer with me i cannot At this time provide any additional information.

Basically it comes down to is when i will be getting home? your guess is as good as mine, my contract has already been Extended twice and could be for a third time!

Frank has been concerned as we all our about this moving in a forward direction so where do we go from here? I would prefer to wait on Chris Connor and do what we had set out to do as per his direction get the plaques And make the presentation along with the monetary donations but Frank has suggested that the donations be Returned because of the length time that has gone by which is understandable. we can go this route if individuals Would like to and make there donations on there own but this could become confusing and nothing would be Returned until i come back from my job assignment in Canada but here again this is an option if you choose It, please send along proof of donation so that in can be matched up along with what was received to:

I am pleased to know Rusty still has this situation under control.
I can also understand his situation as well. Please let me say again I have been dealing with my own health issues and did not feel like doing much of anything. With Rustys offer to return the money, I would like to say the cash (check) that I sent is welcome to go to the YNs if Frank wants to wait. I could not and will not take it back!

 

For the record, I never doubted him either........

Well, after a long absence from the C.T. forum (not by choice i might add) i,am back!! since there
Have been allot of questions i would like to run through this once again from the beginning and what
I,am planning on doing here it the future to get the ball rolling in a positive direction.

First off we lost a great friend and fellow collector last year in Bob Connor though i never met him
Personally i had several dealings with him and talked him via e-mail just about everyday he,s the
One that brought me to this great forum which i had enjoyed being part of in 2009, 2010 and most
Of 2011 when i heard that Bob had passed i felt a real emotional loss and really was very surprised
Since i really didnt know he was that sick, along with RickieB and Krispy we formed the Bob Connor
Memorial fund which also included Bob,s son Chris Connor the mission was to collect
Donations both monetary and non monetary and send those to a selected charity in this case the
Young Notables run by Frank Rentenberg this was also suppose to include two plaques one would
Go to the Connor family and one would be presented along with the donations to the charity.

So in late April we started receiving donations also about this time i was planning on moving
To California as part of a job transfer that eventually sent me to Canada, i discussed this
With Chris and wanted to get everything done before i left for obvious reasons, since he was
Handling the plaques we got a picture together along with the wording and he went to it
In mid June two week,s before i was ready to leave he told me that he would have them to
Me with in a week to present to the young notables this was the last discussion i had with
Chris and have not heard from him since i must of sent over 100 e-mails to him with no response!
Frank and Steve have done the same with similar results since the plaques were part of this
I really wanted to contact Chris Connor before continuing not sure what the issues there are
As he has my e-mail???

I have also tried contacting the other members of the fund RickieB and Krispy but i know Rickie
Is dealing with some serious health issues and isnt on often and Krispy is in Japan so that has
Kind of left me "holding the Bag", when i left for California i sent all non monetary donations
To the young Notables as things were in a rush as i had to get to California cash donations were
Still coming in they were noted in my personal computer so i had all the information there.

When i landed in California i was there a total of one week before leaving for Vancouver in which
I have been for several months i managed to get a transfer out and am currently in transition to
A new location in Nevada still not in the states but i can now get on to C.T. which is great!!
I have tried to keep as many people in the loop and special thanks to Tess (Sunflowe1) for posting
Updates when i was unable to do so as i previously stated all of the donations were stored on
My lap top i had asked my wife back in California to get the information for me and she was unable
To locate it, we did have a virus attack on the computer a couple of weeks after i left for Canada
But she took it in to get it fixed and all the data should have been backed up but now i,am not so sure
So in an effort to move forward i would like to ask everybody that has donated to contact me at

Returning back to the states in early November and will begin disbursement of funds at that time.

I,am still seeking out members who have donated to this fund so if you donated something

Possible loss of information due to a computer virus.

Also i,am trying to get the information from Frank on the previously donated items so
That i can update the thread further, i will be posting names as soon as they are verified

When will you know if you can or can not retrieve the donation information from your 'puter ?

 

Right now i,am trying to be proactive just in case, but wont know for sure until i return back
To the states in November, but it would be a big help if donors contact me either through
A pm message or at my e-mail, i would like to start posting names asap!

Also i have e-mailed Frank at young noteables to get a update and disposition of the items
That have already been donated.

 

The items that were donated and sent to the Young Notables were disbursed during the 2012 class. The updates and pictures were posted weekly on CT during this year's class. The Young Notables have not received any checks or cash donated to the Bob Connor Memorial.
