Bummer. Found a 1980 Proof, 1st time I've ever found a proof. I also found a 2004 and 2007 Kennedy. Very low mintage on them, wonder if they're worth keeping.

I went through 6 boxes of halves earlier.

Box 1: 1 40% and a 'nation of immigrants' commemorative.

    Box 2: SKUNK!

    Box 3: SKUNK!

    Box 4: SKUNK!

    Box 5: 9 40%'s and 1 64'

    Box 6: 8 40%'s

I got a few more to pick up tomorrow.

It'd be hard to rebox a String & Sons box without it being obvious, I'd think. The rolls, obviously, are different. But those boxes are tough to reseal, far as I'm concerned. Brinks boxes, on the other hand, are a different story.

EDIT: And to texasfan, I keep my NIFCs until I get about $50 worth, then ebay em. Of course, the best examples, I've put into my Dansco. Just waiting on a 2011 D and the 2012s.

It sure is. I smiled when I saw the silver edge, but the heart skipped a beat when I turned it over and saw wings! My oldest CRH coin by far, and my oldest coin period by 1 year.

Well, I hit another jackpot today.... :)
My 500 "ikes" arrived that i ordered. they came in these awesome canvas bags that they said i can keep. Well it turns out there were only 497 ikes... but also a morgan, and a peace dollar, plus a counterfeit one ounce silver coin. I'm pretty sure the morgan and peace are genuine, but the "one ounce fine silver" coin is just so wrong. It's magnetic, weighs only 22 grams, it looks and sounds like it's an aluminum alloy, and it has the date 1906 stamped on it... What should I do with it? Take it back and tell them they gave me a counterfeit coin? destroy it? Suggestions? Well anyway, here are some pictures for you all to be jealous of :D!

They said they usually can't order them, but they got a small stockpile of them recently, and they've been ordering them for another customer. I'm going to try to order $2k for next week before they run out!!!

Jealous I am!!! Weird counterfeit. could it possibly be 1986 not 1906? You would think someone that could create something like that would at least know the years of mintage.

After about 4-5 months worth of skunky quarter rolls, looks like my luck has changed. I got my normal rolls of change yesterday (around 70 bucks worth of all 4 main denominations, mostly BWR) and I found 2 Washingtons, one of which was an ender on the first roll I opened. This comes after finding 2 silver washingtons in the same roll out of the box I opened on monday, and another from the reject tube. 5 washingtons is insane for me, I imagine that I've used up all my good luck on quarters this week and I can expect another 2000 or so skunky rolls, lol.

Also had decent luck with pennies. I found a wheatie, a relatively major penny error (looks like the planchet has a small circular section that's messed up on both sides), and my first steel cent in the same roll.

Today is my birthday so hopefully I have even better luck today. I guess if not, last night was a pretty nice birthday gift from the CRH gods, haha

picked up 2 boxes yesterday but only searched one of them.

    1 40%

the real bummer is that I found many of my own coins in this box. Maybe a month and a half ago I marked like 4 boxes, and my marks are showing back up again already?!? So much for hoping to work my way into an older stockpile. looks like I am cycling through the same small batch of coins over and over.

(for the coin purists, fear not, I would never deface the coins. I just marked the edges. )

Marking the edges is still considered damaging the coins.

Box # 2 Just made my month

Box # 2 was very good to me. I weighed all the rolls and came out with a couple odd balls at 223 grams and two rolls at 226 grams which I saved for last. The 226 gram rolls each had a 1964. The rest of the rolls were the typical 224 or 225 grams. Even those rolls produced some 40%er's.

One of the 223 gram rolls had a 1964. It also had a very small half that was worn down beyond anything I have ever seen which is the reason it came in at such a low weight.

    Final tally and impressive 11 x 40% & 3 x 1964's
