Ive been going through 6 boxes of dimes and 3 boxes of halves a week for last 3 weeks.
18 boxes of dimes-31 Roosies, 2 Mercs and a 1900 barber dime(first ever!)
9 boxes of halves- 2 40% ers-ughh
Spoke with my step mother( who was widowed by my father in 2001) whom i havent spoken with in years. told her i was coin roll hunting and she got all excite. Apparently my father did this all the time and she wanted me to have his collection.
I drove 8 hours round trip to pick up his "coin roll hunting finds"
10-uncirculated silver eagles
5-morgan dollars
2-peace dollars
20-walking liberty halves
20- franklins
12-64 kennedys
37-65-69 halves
40-washington quarters-including a 1951-s stamped super deep on a planchet that looks double normal quarter thickness
100 dimes-71 roosies and 29 mercs.

I'm curious what bank orders ikes for people? I've talked to the managers of 3 different banks and the most info ive been able to get is, "we cant order those because they dont make them any more", sounds like laziness to me. Do most or your guy's banks order ikes without a problem?

 

No they can't order them unfortunately. They are considered out of circulation. Most of us just get lucky. ( Unless someone really does order them ) but I havent heard of that for years.

 

Is it possible that it's stamped on a half dollar planchet?

Anyway, I've asked about every bank I can think of to order boxes of ikes, and I think it's pretty rare if not impossible. Most banks these days can't even order small-size dollars, and when they can they can't specify what dollars they get. I would guess that you'd have better luck contacting brinks or loomis yourself and see what they do with them, lol

 

Picking up a box of halves tomorrow, hopefully there will be some silver in there. Wonder if I weighed the box I could tell before digging in?

Picking up two boxes of halves tomorrow. Wish me luck. Searched two boxes of dimes today, pulled out two roosies. Any of you guys have a good technique to quickly open rolls? My fingers are sore from opening 50 rolls, and I gotta do 50 more tomorrow.

Was able to make a couple stops today. 4 cwr halves... nothing. $6.50 in loose halves... one 40%. It's been a while. And two ikes.

 

Actually, one of the banks I go to said they got a small stockpile of them recently, and they sold me a $98 bag of ikes. They said they could order me a few hundred more if I had an account... Which I then opened that same day. I asked for them to order me $500, I'll know if they can get that many by tomorrow !

EDIT: If they can get 500 of them, I'm going to ask to order 2,000 of them for next week lmao. *crossing my fingers*

went through $505 in CWR dimes today...2 roosies and about 10 canadians...$1140 CWR quarters had better results than my dimes...4 silvers (34,3x64D), one proof (83), and 4 canadians.

 

Wow, nice job on the quarters. I never had any luck with those, haven't found any yet.

 

Bought two rolls of Halves. Skunked on me, but oh well, got to handle halves, and I have not really had halves before, but I love 'em!

And on the other note, you can ask a bank to order dollars? Does that work? I think my bank only does halves, but I am not to sure!

 

My teller tells me she can order dollars, but they're going to be new golden variety.
