My second PCGS submission

Discussion in 'Coin Chat' started by Log Potato, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. I had a good time guessing the grades with my first PCGS submission. I decided to start a thread here to post my guesses for this submission. I will be submitting these coins at the Baltimore show, so I probably wont see grades until May or so.

    1) 1853 A&R 50C - Was in an ANACS 35 holder, and I see it holdering at the same grade
    2) 1893-O 50C - Darkly toned coin, light on the liberty but great detail throughout - My grade 20
    3) 1894-S 50C - lighter colored coin with ghosting of the design elements. Probably from a long ago dip - My grade 20
    4) 1895 50C - My grade 20
    5) 1895-O 50C - This is a gorgeous VF Barber half, it has a rim issue that might put it in a BB. My grade 25 w/o the issue, hopefully they net it at 20
    6) 1900-O 50C - Perfect original color, I'm split on the grade VG10/F12 Im hoping for the 12 since it is a softly struck date.
    7) 1901-O 50C - Nice look for a tough date. I say 25
    8) 1902-O 50C - Weakly struck, but I think it will go 15
    9) 1903-S 50C - The date that got a BB for me in my last round. I think this coin will get a solid 15
    10) 1904 50C - Ex NGC 20, I see it getting the same grade
    11) 1905-O 50C - The most prized piece I have acquired so far. Such a tough date, and this one is great looking. I'm thinking 25
    12) 1907-O 50C - Ex NGC 12 I think it should be in a 15 holder if not a 20
    13) 1908-S 50C - Nice crusty Barber, this is the look I love. I say 30
    14) 1911 50C - Ex NGC 12. This should make it in a 15 holder no problem

Justin - do you have photos for these in the other thread?

  4. I posted photos of the Ex NGC and Anacs coins. I will do my best to get photos of the rest. I'm horrible at photos to say the least.

  5. Here are the previously slabbed coins.

Man the 07-O definitely should get bumped from a 12 and I love the 1911. That coin is perfect if you ask me; I wish all of mine looked liked that.

    LogPotato is a conservative grader.
I see most of his coins getting bumped a grade.
    ( F-12... F-15 )
    Good luck !!

LogPotato - how did you submit ? Economy or Regular ?

My last submission for Economy was accepted January 8,
and shipped 8 weeks later. When I called to inquire, I was
told my submission was right on target. They listed "21" days
... just don't count weekend days, holidays, trips to conventions
( that eats up 4 or 5 days right there ) and as a result,
it's an 8 week ordeal waiting.

Not to be discouraged, while in Baltimore, I had two more
Economy Submissions. One with a couple of Cross Overs &
one with 17 raw Barber Halves.

I hope you get your grades soon. As, so do I.

  16. Don't know how I missed your post, Mike. It's been 21 days now. I submitted the day after you at the Baltimore show. So it will be interesting to see who's gets posted first. I'm pacing frantically waiting for results. :D If I remember correctly, you had a few coins in that raw submission I could use in my set.

    Justin,
My coins were accepted into the PCGS Sytem on 3/28/12. If you ignore weekends - holidays - shows - then you're right - its been 21+ days. Now take those things I mentioned into consideration, and the soonest we'll hear will be on Wednesday, May 9th.
[ There was a 3 day show in Las Vegas - plus Emancipation Day / April 16th - plus a week for Central States ] .

    Sad but true.

  18. I guess I will just have to wait it out. :(

Waiting is the hardest part. They've had a couple of coins of mine for 3+ weeks and every day is torture. Hope the results are worth the wait!

My thoughts on this submission, nothing really surprises my other than the 05-O. That is not the right grade for that coin. It might have to take another trip in. And of course, this is my second submission and the second details 03-S. This Date MM is going to be a pain in my butt! :D
