I just finished searching a bunch of rolls. There were the usual Canadian pennies sprinkled about (which I don't mind since I'm a copper hoarder) and this popped up as well. I might have been irked except for the fact that it's such a pretty coin. It did get me to wondering. What's the most unusual or most attractive coin you've found while hunting?
A nice idea for a thread! I have a little baggie of world coins that I have found roll searching. I don't think I have anything as interesting as above though!
Aside from the usual stuff (copper/nickel Canadian and UK 5p's), I've found a Bahamas 5 cent which has a neat pineapple reverse, two Singapore 10 cents, and a Japanese 1 yen. My favorites are Canadian silver. I found a 1967 dime when I worked as a cashier, and a 1962 50 cent when hunting halves. Both are gorgeous coins.
This is what I've found out of around 500 rolls of nickels searched: 1980 Great Britain 1 New Penny 1998 Italy 100 Lire 1981 Phillipine 25 Centimos 1989 Switzerland 20 Rappen 1965 5 Cent Canada 1983 5 Cent Canada 1988 5 Cent Canada 1989 5 Cent Canada 1998 5 Cent Canada 2006 5 Cent Canada This is what I've found out of about 850 rolls of pennies: 1963J Germany 2 Pfennig 1986 Venezuela 5 Centimos 1992 Sweden 50 ORE Canadian: 1963x2 1965x2 1967x2 1968x2 1971 1972x3 1973x2 1974x2 1975x2 1977 1978 1979x3 1981 1982x2 1983x3 1984 1987x3 1988 1989x2 1991 1992 1993x3 1994x2 1995 1997 1998x2 1999 2001 2003 2004x2 2006 2008 Not too much foreign in dimes and quarters except that for quarters I found a 1995 1 Peso from the Philippines in 2007 and this year I found a 1977 50 Lira coin from Italy.
Plenty of Canadian (including slv). I have found a 1918 sterling Dime, that was fun and unexpected. British 5 pence are common in dime rolls, as well as Barbados, East Caribbean States, and Ecuador. But what I love finding are Swiss half Francs. One of those makes my day.
Well, I always find tons of Canadian, and I don't keep track of it (except for pre-1960 Canadian). I did find a 1939 George VI yesterday, which was the 4th or 5th pre-1940 Canadian cent I've found. But this thread seems great, I've keep my foreign from rolls all together. I'll try to post a pic tomorrow, it'll be better than just copy and pasting my spreadsheets.
I have a few Canadian cents. That is all I seem to find. The funniest find I have ever had, was a penny that was painted red on the obverse, with a black heart drawn on it. I gave it my girlfriend. Oddest gift ever, yes.

I found an Argentina 25 cent in a cwr of quarters today. Also found a Canadian 25 cent but that is normal.
