I love Franz Josef silver coins

Even though the minted millions of them they are fun to collect and hold their value nicely.

    Nice one.

That is Europa on the bull (Zeus), on a Greek €2 circulation coin from 2002 (hence the old reverse). The scene can be found on quite a few coins from various euro countries; here they are on an Italian commemorative €2 coin ...

... and this is a new collector coin from Spain. Don't have that one; the image is from the mint's website.

I sometimes find a coin that I know just has to be added to the collection for life, regardless of how high or low the mintage is or what its overall worth may be. I thought this was a no brainer. Coins like this are actually pretty tough to come across, especially with its age and still be in the 100 dollar range. It only has up to go in my book.

Not forgotten, but fortunately they used the same design for the €10 silver piece too ... my collection of gold coins is extremely limited. ;) Belgium also issued a €10 coin with Europa on the bull, in 2004. Not a recent acquisition for me, but I have it.

sorry matt but it just doesn't do it for me, the toning is far far too heavy and detracts from what a beautiful coin it is. i really prefer untoned coins as they look far better in my opinion.

Why do I even bother, fortunately I'm not a newb that would be dejected by the ball busting comment. The coin is nice all day long, and the mug that queen has will always look better with a little paint.

Really cool coin at first I thought it was a penny looking at based on the reverse!

I just returned from a trip to Italy and picked up a few things from a local coin shop there.

    A 2009 Slovakia Euro set
    [IMG]

    A 2008 Malta Euro set
    [IMG]

And a 2011 Vatican City Euro set, even in Italy these things are expensive! I also found a couple Vatican City 50 cent coins in my change while I was there!
