Not being a big US coins collector, I'm not familiar with grading at all. From the 40 or 50 US coins I have, this indian cent is one of the best preserved but I've no idea at all of its grade

What would you folks say ?
    Thanks in advance

I'd say probably strong 40, 45 on good day. Thanks for that link too mack.

Is it just me, or is there a massive flood of horribly overgraded IHCs? I've seen things in an AU holder where "liberty" is barely readable. Disgusting.

I was just commenting to a friend of mine at the last local show that every indian at the show was MS65 RED no matter how dark it was. They were all asking way too much. I was actually laughing about it!

I take it that these were in 2x2's or in less respected TPG holders. Top TPG's only assign "Red" if it's at or very near 100% red. It doesn't take much to knock a cent down to "Red Brown" (95% red).

AU-55 BN ...might not slab problem free though because it looks like it has some slight traces of verdigris...great details though.

I would have put it at AU50 also - can't tell from the pictures if there is any remaining luster under the dark toning. Very nice coin from the looks of it.
