Does anyone own the Intercept Shield album for Eisenhower Dollars? I imagine they have spaces for all of the business strikes, proofs, and silver proofs / MS issues, but do they have spaces for some of the more recognized variations such as the 1976 Types 1 and 2; 1972 Types 1, 2, and 3; and the "Friendly Eagle" reverse? Thanks in advance!
I've got one Urban Lawyer. Bought it a few years ago and it's tucked away at the moment. I'll let ya know in da AM......
OK, dug it out.... The '75-'76 does have Type I/II holes for clad but not for silver clad. No '72 I II III type holes. My album is a few years old so I don't know about the newer ones.
There is no 1976 Type 2 Silver Clad Ike and Generally speaking, most of the Eisenhower Albums have some additional holes for varieties since there are only so many ways to divide a 32 coin set. Including a 1971-D RDV-006, a 1972 Type 2, and a 1971-S PegLeg Proof is always nice.
I'm not big on these and was looking in my Red Book (which has it listed) Wouldn't be the first time those guys were wrong. You got that right. Even room for my Ike Commem's......
Red book 2012, page 228 lists an IKE 1776-1976, silver clad variety 2 proof. What is that? Is there such an IKE coin that's a proof without the San Francisco mint mark? Even if it had a SF mint mark I cannot find a variety 2 silver clad. Even Stuart's Type collection doesn't have one. So is Red Book in error listing this? zeke
If you want some good info on the 76 No S silver proof, you can find it in Scott Schechter and Jeff Garrett's book, "100 Greatest US Modern Coins". There is only one known in existance. As quoted, "There are two popular theories as to why this coin was made....." Oh why the heck should I type this all out. Buy the book and read it yourself. It is good stuff.
Thanks for the info jaceravone. I finally discovered that it was the no 'S' by looking it up in the PCGS price guide and clicking on the ID number. Viola 1976 no 'S' comes up.
