I'm certain that's not the doubled ear. Your coin shows no extra thickness like the real one. Many times the ear, being the highest point and in the center takes a hit that can make it appear to have doubling.

Have you ever tried to get a good photo of a 97 doubled ear? For some reason this coin is extremely hard to get the doubled details of the bottom of the ear to show both outlines in one image,it has to be on a perfect angle to do this. Like I have told you before , you may want to get new eyeglasses or have your eyes checked. I hope you don't get mad at me because I'm just trying to help you.

If I was not about 99.99% sure that the OP has the right thing I would have not said anything.

this post of yours telling the OP his or her coin is not the real thing takes the cake since you say your's is real and the OP'S is not. honestly I can not see the difference in them. maybe you're right and I'm wrong but I still think I got it right.

Here's what I'm seeing. Look at the red arrow, the OP's coin doesen't show the bulge on the earlobe as in mine. At the green arrow there's a lock of hair that's doubled that protrudes south into the top of the ear. My pic is a little dark there but if you look at the one on Coppercoins you'll see it better. I don't see that on the OP's coin.

DT The op's coin is in my opinion is definately a real doubled ear coin from what I can see in the photo. the only difference in this coin and yours is that the op's coin looks to have seen more circulation than yours. It still has enough of the doubling left to easy tell what it is.you keep saying you don't need glasses. I thought the same thing until I had a eye exam and got new eye glasses , now I can see the world much better with my new bi focals. when we get older all kinds of things can go wrong with us.

For the last time, my eyes are fine. Don't just focus on the earlobe. Look at the green arrows. They point to where the lock of hair is doubled to where it covers the top of the ear. The OP's coin shows the inside curve of the ear hole whereas on the real doubled die that part is covered by the lock of hair. There is no way wear can do that.

It looks like its something that either Ken Potter or John Wexler needs to look at.

I agree. It does look slightly different. Maybe it's something new?

I agree with you but Potter is very ill and we need to keep him in our prayers , John would be able to tell what this is just from the photo.

I know it is impossible to tell some of us anything to change our minds but darn it I will try again. DT what is confusing you is like I told you earlier , the op's coin has been in circulation. I still say get your eyes checked. you keep saying the top of the ears is different , sure it is different because in the image I can clear as day see where the op's coin has taken a couple of hits in this area and made it look different. Rascal,

Just because someone doesn't see it exactly how you see it is no reason to talk down to them... which is what you are doing.

It is not necessary and it is NOT appreciated.

I think that the first comment speaks volumes. The discussions should not be to convince or change anyone's mind to one poster's opinion, as these are JUST ( caps intentional) personal opinions, BUT to present a point of view, based on the principle of education and allowing the recipient to decide whether they are willing to accept it or not. If they do not, then let it go!!!!! You are not going to do it with snarky remarks about having eyes checked, not just once but several times! If you can not convince someone with well thought out, referenced reasoning, then you are not doing as well as you think. I find some of your past reasoning , well ~ reasonable, and some just haranguing "I am always right diatribe". Please consider this as trying to help you become a respected reference source.
