As I re-image my hoard, I come see hting sthat my poor aging eyes cant see in hand. I notice this twenty cent piece as an S/S mint mark. I found a couple online for sale, but is there any information about this? Is this common? etc..
I understand my coin is pretty beat up and had an old cleaning.
Any info would be appreciated. thanks.

Wow that's a new one. I don't believe 20c's are common. I mean they're not uber rare, but they do fetch a nice premium.

They had a short life. The 1875 S is the most common however. With a mintage of about 1.15 million. I think they are a very nice looking coin.

Looks like the RPM. I don't think they're common but neither are they scarce. Regardless, it's kinda cool.

The MPD is a popular variety. Can you see any part of the upper bar of the 7 below the date in the dentils? Here's a link to a recent auction for a high-grade one.

Maybe a 20c specialist would have more to add.

Thanks for the replt Ikeiwin. From my high res image I do not see the drop 7. That doesn't mean it isn't there of course. I will bust out the loupe and see what's up.

I have the same type in better shape. I asked on the PCGS boards many months ago and a specialist on 20c pieces said its a fairly common "error" and doesnt bring very much of a premium. Mine even has the
upper bar of the 7 below the date in the dentils.
