Did I define it right? It is much easier to see the original strike under a 30x loupe. The camera was much harder due to the reflections of light. Opinions/Thoughts Thanks ~ Darryl
I can't see any doubling. Is it in a flip? Maybe if you take it out of the flip before taking the pic. Nice off center, though. Are all of those scrapes on the coin or the flip?
Not in a flip but like I said it is very hard to capture. The original was mostly taken out by the second strike? Look right in front of his eyebrow on this picture. There are many more examples on this coin like that raised area.
Hard to say. I am having trouble seeing the "first strikes" design elements as well. So far as I see is a partial collar broadstrike.
That is my opinion as well. I can see no signs of a second underlying strike anywhere on the coin, either side.
This extra design looks like it may be from a clashed die. this is the areas that the clash marks usually show up on a Roosevelt dime.
LOL - It's really frustrating when you see something, have a hard time explaining it and have a harder time capturing it in images. Most of the ghosted image actually seems more sunken but there are some very minor raised areas as well. The reverse has more to see in this regards so here are a couple more to look at. Look all around the flame and around Plu and Below the A of America. If you do not see it all I can say is there is something there and I am not sure how the Broadstrike would cause it. I do agree that it looks like a broadstrike but there is something else there I do not understand.???
I see the broadstrike for sure, but I'm less convinced of the die clash. From these pictures, can we really determine that those irregularities in the reserve are the result of die clashing? The only thing I see fur sure is the broadstrike.
But if someone can convince me otherwise, I'm very open to it, as this would be a great learning point..

Look to the right of the torch in the third pic in the OP, It looks to me like a ghost of the torch, which wouldn't be a clashed die. Anyone else see it?
Thank you Mike, Billy - that is originally what caught my attention and why I thought it had been struck twice.
