It's not a DDR. Just machine doubling and the marks are just scratches from circulation. A spender.

    Hi Ikandiggit,

This is MD? Are you sure about that?

Can you explain why it is not a doubled die?

    Thank you!

The correct term is doubled die.

Flat and shelf-like are the characteristics of Machine doubling:

A doubled die coin would look like this:

Notice the devices are doubled. The height of the secondary doubling is the same as the primary device.

Compare it to yours which is what appears in the diagram. It has been sheared by die movement and is lower than the primary device.

Here's an extreme example of md:

You'll find lots md if you search rolls. Especially on older coins.

Why so much more on the 8 than the rest?

Perfect illustration for MD and even better for explanations to new members. Did you draw that yourself?

That is the perfect example. I knew the difference but man did you make that the clearest example ever

No, this was an illustration either coop or coppercoins used on one of the other forums.

Md can appear anywhere and can include one or more of the devices. It's commonly caused by die chatter.

Too hard to tell from the pics. It may be die polishing marks but it looks more like scratches. Die polishing marks appear raised on the surface of the coin. Your coin looks like it has incused lines. However, if the lines are raised on your coin, then yes, it's the result of die scratches.
