I found this laying on the coin machine today while dumping nickels!

Very cool! I'll give you more than a nickel for it... Here's a few 5 RMs.

Great find. That is a 1938-A (Berlin) minted 2RM piece. It's one of the more common in the series with a mintage of over 13 million. It is 62.5% silver with a silver weight of 0.16oz. In that condition, it's probably only worth melt.

Thanks for the info, I had looked it up on Numista as I had a suspicion it was silver when i found it. Won't be selling it any time soon as I tend to collect coins. :)

Even in that condition I daresay it would fetch more than melt on eBay.
There are a lot of Third Reich buffs out there.
Coins and stamps are the only Nazi memorabilia allowed on eBay.

On eBay yes...elsewhere....no. eBay is the worst place to buy Third Reich coins because they are so overpriced. This is an area where I heavily collect, this coin isn't worth much (if anything) over melt.

I wouldn't know how to grade this coin but it is actually I pretty good condition, the pictures don't do it
justice. I would say it is comparable to the 4th coin from the left in the pictures that Atarian posted.

It's hard to get a good look at it with the photos and the toning. But, on second glance I don't see much if any wear. Like I said, this is a common date but if it's problem free and AU or so...I could see a retail value on it in the $15-$20 range or so. So, not a bad piece at all. I personally don't have this coin in my collection, but I have a 1938-E which had about 4.7 million minted. Mine is probably MS63/64 and is blast white and I paid $25 for it on 2009. They have gone up a bit since then because of the silver value.
