I have been working on this for a couple of months and would like to share it with anyone that likes the photo certs. :smile I have 10 types of certificates all with pictures, so it is a good reference. Some of ANACS history and some quotes by one of the graders that started the grading service on March 1st 1979 If you would like a copy, you will need to PM me with an email address. :smile I don't have someplace I can set up a link for you to down load it. I have found that the research was fun and very interesting. I have learned allot for this project. I hope you have as much fun reading it as I did collecting the information. Feel free to pass it around. I do collect the Photo Certs also. Thanks :smile :smile:smile

Robert, Thanks very much for the Article - made very interesting reading. I am not a big fan of the current TPGs such as PCGS and NGC. Almost all of my coins are in OGP but I do have a soft spot for the "old" ANACS slabs (your figs. 31-34). I like them specifically because they are small, discrete, and DO NOT overwhelm the coin itself like the PCGS & NGC slabs. I really wish ANACS would bring back this format since their current slabs are rather cheap looking. That said I would also like to acquire coins in the fig 1-29 packages which are very cool - once again because they show the coin clearly and are easy to hold. PS: Robert have you considered submitting it to one of the Coin Magazines for publication?
Kidkayt Thank you! You can still find the old small ANACS slabs fig 31 and 32 were put out by ANA/ANACS and I call them first generation slabs but they are hard to find, I search ebay on ANACS and look through hundreds of pictures to find them, I first look at the picture for the white holder with no bar code then I look for the small print of "OFFICAL ANA GRADE" in the label, or Fig 33 the "ANACS" only on the label and Fig 34 with "ANACS" and the bar code. Its alot of searching, I also watch for the photo certs but the seller has to show the picture, its not offen that I catch the dual grade(MS63/65) Plus I scan the coin shows looking for those first before I buy anything else, I go all around the browse floor first and take notes as to who has what. Why yes, to the submitting to one of the coin magazines, But I would first like the ANA to get it into "The Numismatics" if at all possible. Since it really is about the ANA part. Thanks Bob
Got it - thanks Robert! Very interesting article with nice examples. Highly recommended that members get it!
