Johnvan, I think you are a little tough on your 99 half. I think that coin could go VG8. EPU is a bit weak, but all the other detail looks right.
Thank you. I don't know much about Barbers, however I do like the Barber dime. What would a 1914D in AU to BU go for?---John
Well, someone decided to make me pay through the nose for this coin tonight, but it's in strong hands now for a long time.
Great coins guys. You were right about the RPM on the 07-S, I looked at it this morning. That makes the RPM on the 07-S and an inverted MM you guys pointed out previously.
Log Potato I would mark "like". Your note that" some one made you pay more "is not what I like to hear. from anyone!!!:kewl:.
I'm not sour about what I paid for it, just saying that there were two of us that really wanted this coin. That's what auctions are all about.
We all have to take it on the chin every so often. I could have been outbid so easily on the 1913-D in XF 40. It hit my maximum. What I neglected to do was an in depth study of what that date & MM sold for recently. I relied on a price sheet - my mistake - and it could have cost me dearly. I don't think Log Potato meant anything by saying someone pushed him too hard at that auction, and as he said - that's what an auction is all about. I want to thank LogPotato very much for his altruistic behavior in pointing this Barber Half Dollar out to me on eBay - he knew it was something I would throughly enjoy - and it is - as I was not too thrilled with my newp of the same date & MM . Thanks again, Justin !!
I had en email in my box this morning from Ebay telling me I won a coin. I had forgotten that my son and I had looked through some coins and put in bids that must have all ended last night - we lost them all but 1. Of course, the 1 that we won was probably the least favorite for me. My son thought it was great looking, I thought it looked like it had been tossed in a fire. Either way, overpaid or not, it'll be here in a few days and I'll take photos of it. He loves picking coins out on ebay and putting in bids - although we usually always lose them because I like to have them in my hands before I buy them since they're raw.
 I think all of us have done that at lest 1 or more times. I can not say I have not overpayed, but that would be a lie. Hex your brain say buy! but pocket been muted by the brain.:kewl:
My guess would be about $75 for a certified AU 55 - I paid $97 for a fantastic PCGS - AU 58 - four years ago - but I paid for the toning.
. One of these days, I'll figure out this CT system. My post above was not meant to be part of the previous quote - and the automated system makes my posts look like a 5 yr old did them...
One thing is for certain when I look at this thread; I need to start being more selective with what I buy. I get so excited when I find a coin in the grade range I'm looking for that I never hold out for examples like the ones you guys are posting. I think I'm officially getting away from the raw coins and just buying holdered coins, even if we break them out for the album.
