So is this "Dansco album" a basic US coin collection set?

A Dansco 7070 album is a type set album. You can customize the pages to add a page or two for gold or not. It's at most coin stores and can be found online easy enough. Cost about $30 I'd guess.

You can get used one cheap from most coin stores too and save some money. Plus they will sometimes let you customize the pages a bit too if you know the dealer.

Great Idea for the odd ball coins I have. While I am focused on Lincolns, I was handed down a fair number of rarer coins that I keep separate, like a 94 Morgan and 3leg Buffalo. Now I think I have a place to put them and then build around them. I think I will be mixing in birth years, errors and BU and then, My initial thought is the oldest coins, that don't fit in the above categories should look old, plus it will help keep the cost down.

I am partial to the Intercept line - I think I will go that direction. I enjoyed looking at these pics . Thanks for the idea!

    Cool!

I love seeing all the 7070 albums, and the progress in filling it that members have posted. Great stuff guys! Thanks for posting.

I've got an old Whitman 20th century type set album that I could use as the basis for building one of these Dansco 7070 collections. This thread may just push me over the edge to go out and start a 7070 myself. Thanks for the inspiration.

    Hi all,
Haven't posted in a while. Probably because I haven't bought a coin in a while.
However I was at the Chicago ANA and did feel the need to add to my Type Set. I saw a quite worn 1921 Peace Dollar and thought it would be perfect.

Ya know? There is something about that well worn lady that's just "speaking" to me. :)

    Nice addition.....:)

Thanks. I got it from Wayne Herndon's table, which is usually shared with Dick Osburn. Both have some great circulated material and I hover there a bit when I'm at a show. There was also a nicely worn type one SLQ that I had my eye on as well.

YES! Ive waited for someone to make this a thread! I also have the Dansco type set. I have over half of it filled including the gold page. It'll take me around another $2,000 to fill the rest of the book (Not including the gold page which will take another $5,000) for AU conditions. Patience is key. It could take another 2 years to fill it up!!

How is your type set coming along? Been a little while since an update and I'm a huge fan of the 7070.

Thought I'd chime in. I recently bought a few circ coins for some holes in the type set.

Other recent holes include a '49 Braided hair cent, a 73 silver Ike, a 1965 clad quarter that I found in change that was really beaten up, but looks like it belongs on that particular page, and a nice 2012 dime also found in circulation (may as well use the year I got married).

BEAUTIFUL! I think I might stop my Dansco 7070 since I rather by slabbed coins since I want AU-MS which can be really pricey with the seated dollars and bust halfs and bust half dimes.

I plan to build a type collection someday once my Mercs are done... so in 20+ years, maybe.

God, OGH slabs are gonna be hard as heck to find by then...

Hi, I know this is an older post, but I wanted to share my custom Dansco page I made yesterday. Not perfect, but I'm pretty dang happy with it. Total cost was about $10.00. customdansco.jpg

I took a SBA Dansco page and turned it over (the Susan B. Anthony header is on the back bottom of page). Then removed all plastic covers. Took an exacto knife and trimmed the holes to fit the coins I wanted to put in the page. You can also use a dremmel tool and a sanding bit if you only have a little bit to take off. Next I layed out my page in a word processor (I used WORD, but anything would work). I printed the page on white paper and held it up to the light, and kept making adjustments to how the text was spaced until I liked it and it lined up under my new circle ports on the page. Then at a crafts store (I went to Michaels, but anyplace like HobbyLobby or any craft store) and found a RUB ON transfer page. The brand I uses was GRAFIC RUB-ONZ. Now in order to make the rub on page, I had to flip my text (print it backwards so that when applied it would be readable). I followed the directions on the RUB-ONZ and printed my page. Then I applied the rub on by simply peeling the back off putting it on my Dansco page and rubbing it with a Popsicle stick (included with the RUB-ONZ). It's a little tricky, but if I can do it, I imagine just about anybody can. Not too bad, huh? :)
