Question about silver

All the boxed coins I get are from brinks. My question is, does brinks or other companies have a way of
taking out the silver coins before rolling and boxing them?

Seen this question asked many times. My response would be if Brink's did filter out the silver then there wouldn't be so many people still finding silver in their rolls.

I would suppose that some workers might be finding a way of doing this, but that person or those people would have to be extremely careful of how they chose to do this. It's not like a bank branch where a cognizant manager can find a way to cull out finds that make their way to the bank, and still have the bank run smoothly with no auditing problems. But for the most part, anytime there is lots of work with money, rules are in place to ensure that there is no funny business going on. I would think that the people with the access to the coins prior to them being wrapped have severe restrictions on what they are able to do, and even if they are allowed to have cash on them when they are handling the money. Plus the workers really don't have time to be going through looking for silver. The company would have to have a machine with workers dedicated to sorting those out, and I don't think that would be feasible or cost-effective.

Thanks a lot Kasia. I've had so many wonderful dreams of getting that job and pulling a bag of silver everyday as the conveyer of coins rolls past me!!!

If I remember correctly from the original roll searching thread, I think there are some coinstar type machines (not coinstar, but similar machines that may be in grocery stores) that take silver and filter them out for the company. But I may be wrong, who knows.

If Coinstar and the Penny Arcade at TD can kick out silver why can't the technology be scaled up to be used by the companies doing the re-rolling? I've found silver in Brinks boxes so they're not doing it, but I wondered if Garda has that capability as I never found anything in the S&S boxes I got from them.

Not cost effective unless they're pulling hundreds of ozs.

With silver on the rise I wonder what price per ounce will change that and end our hobby. :(

More likely than not, there is someone who is dumping large amounts of clad into their system. Your just searching his dumps they are rerolling. Until you get through those, or unless someone cashes in some silver before or after his dump, your going not going to find silver. Power through the dumps and get to the good stuff. Volume is key to this game, right?

I went the other way and just gave up buying from banks that use Garda, as they also pick up the coins I dump at TD. Currently my buy banks both use Brinks but I'm trying to figure out who uses Loomis around here. I see the Loomis trucks driving around but I haven't caught one at a bank yet.
