Picked up my first Trade dollar 1877-S A little help on grading? I want to say its VF, its still got a little luster to it. Am I right or way off?
Hey Winged, here's what I could find from my research: http://www.pcgscoinfacts.com/CoinDetail.aspx?s=38146&redir=t This shows one sold for $140 on a teletrade auction. http://www.teletrade.com/coins/search.asp?issubmit=1&nodefault=1&wantsid=0&searchid=0&aucrange=all&begauction=3235&endauction=&searchpast=1&backto=1000&s_ispaper=0&s_isnonusa=0&s_yearmin=1951&s_yearmax=1951&s_mint=None%2FP&s_overdate=&s_grademin=64+%28UNC%2FMS%29&s_grademax=64+%28UNC%2FMS%29&s_proof=Proof&s_ispcgs=1&s_isngc=1&s_isanacs=1&s_anacshold=All&s_isicg=1&s_isncs=1&s_onlytoned=&s_keywords=DDO&button=Search&s_isalldenoms=1&cookchk=1 These sold for $150 and $180 on Teletrade and on Heritage one sold for $54, one for $69 and one for $79 http://coins.ha.com/common/search_r...t=1951 ddo&Nty=1&N=51+790+231+80&chkNotSold=0
Thanks, I'm happy to get it from the store I go to. I heard there are a lot of fakes out there and didn't want to take a chance.
I'm agreeing with green18 on this one... It looks like a crusty, original F15 w/ a shot at VF20. Think there may be a bit too much wear on Liberty's leg/drapery and Eagle's wings to qualify for VF, but you never know... Crazier things have happened. Nice NEWP! -Brian
Did you cherrypick that Whisker Jaw, or is it attributed on the coin's holder? If you 'picked it, that's incredible! Cherrypicking silver dollars from a live auction without VAMpires noticing is nearly impossible! :thumb: -Brian
It's actually a die break. The majority of the Peace Dollar varieties listed by the CPG include die breaks at their P.U.P.'s. -Brian
