I picked up these dimes for $2 each. I think I made a good buy but I'm not sure what they are worth. What do you guys think?

You did better than melt on them. The barber looks to have been cleaned at some point unless all those hair lines are on the holder, but then again, it doesnt seem to have the luster to call it AU like the holder says. The 1955 is a common date and looks to be BU.

Oh, and if I were you, I'd get them out of those old, ugly holders into some nice 2x2's :)

Yea that is what I was thinking, but I can't figure out how to open the old black one.

It's just on the holder. You can make all of the details on both of them. I can't find anything wrong with either one. Not a scratch.

I just can not seem to get that 55' out of its case. Any ideas how to get it open? I broke a corner off thinking it just folds it half and was glued but I guess not. I'm just afraid I'll scratch it.

Looks like it just pushes in like a Whitman album. Use something soft and push on it.

So it doesn't look bad to me besides this horrible black dot that's on it. There is also a raised line above Roosevelt's head, any guesses what that is? Does it add value? What should I ask for it if I'm going to sell it?

The raised line you mentioned looks to be a die crack. These are some what common and to be honest I think it would add value to some but I think others might not like it and it would hurt its value. You need to find someone who collects die cracks.

Probably a couple extra dollars to someone who collect them. They don't demand premiums in most cases.
