Do you guys think this has been cleaned? http://www.ebay.com/itm/280836431874?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
I`m no expert but that looks cleaned, I bought some cleaned coins off a lady for a pretty decent price (or scrap value) they look the same colour as the majority of the coins I bought. But still thats not a bad looking coin
That is a toss up. I would go cleaned because the wear on the face does not look indicadive of the color scheme. Just knee jerk reaction from an unexperienced eye though.
Definitely looks cleaned. That doesn't seem like a bad price for the coin, though. So how would the cleaning alter the value on something like that, considering the fact that it is a CC?
The CC doesn't add much value to a '76 SL dime. I would put the grade at F details, Harshly cleaned. The value of the coin would be something around Net Good. So something like $15-20 sounds right to me. Mike
Cleaning is one of those things that happens, especially to coins that are more than 100 years old. The only person who could definitely tell would be the person that cleaned it. Give it another 10 years or so exposed to the environment and not in a holder, and I doubt that anyone could tell that it was cleaned.
cant see it too well, but it looks like it is authentic and undergraded. Just a guess, cause I cant see it too well.
My thoughts is it coulda been NCS conserved and did well enough for a numberical grade? I mean that surface looks pretty nice.
Funny, I had one when I first started collecting (it was my dads) --- I dipped it and it turned out exactly how this coin looks... dead ringer...
For the Ebay one, my rule of thumb for those are if they are battleship grey, they more than 98% of the time have been cleaned.
I think they both have been cleaned. I think the first coin would not be slabbed as MA, but clearly the second one has. Remember, there is no prerequisite of being uncleaned when slabbing a coin -- only that the TPG judges the coin market acceptable. Many/most coins of the slabbed coins of era have been cleaned. All of the above IMO.
