So... Newb here, you've been fairly warned... I'm browsing eBay, trying to see what the state quarters are going for (PCGS 70's of course, I'm one of those). Is there any difference between the slabs with flags and the ones that don't? I have a few of the ones that don't and the only difference I see is the "Series 39PR" on the non-Flagged ones. Aside from that, is it just that people paid more for the flags on their slabs then the ones that didn't? I don't see a price different on the online guide...
I believe its just something that you could pay extra for, and as a new collector, can I ask why you only want MS70s? Can you tell the difference between 69s and 70s? BTW, Welcome!
As a newcomer, I think you've made your first mistake.........buying 70's is a waste of money that you will never recover. As for the insert, it really doesn't matter what design is used. It has nothing to do with the quality of the coin. Just don't pay a premium for it as well. Chris
I'm just that kind of guy.... I guess it's not just collecting, I needed some other way of investing aside from buying just pounds of bullion. This at least seems fun, much more fun than stacking silver in a safe, but I do want to be able to sell for a profit and it seems that MS/PR70's command a certain price range above others, and PCGS above NGC. Am I off here?
Modern 70s I believe won't hold value at an "inventment" point of view, but thats just me I think the state quarters 70s are a waste of money, but to each their own.
If you are looking to invest in coins, you've probably picked the worst series' to invest in. Unless you are a savvy buyer, you'll never make money on moderns (freak occurrences like the ASE 25th Ann. set notwithstanding). You'd be better off buying junk silver. Really! I advise you to consider coin collecting a hobby, not an investment vehicle.
