Where to find "newer" coins?

Sounds very elementary, but I'm to the point in my collecting where I need ultra-modern coins. Coin shops don't usually carry them for obvious reasons, and even ebay is tough. Example, I need the non-satin quarters state quarters... where is a good place for these? I don't mind spending the money to get trustworthy UNCs...

And sometimes it is cheaper to buy mint sets and break them up. My local shop has both available and a lot of people do that.

I went to three coin shops, during 2012-02-22, with the hope of buying rolls of 2009-D Roosevelt dimes. They didn't have a single roll...and they still call themselves "coin shop".

Yeah, I'd go with the first response. Ebay is probably your best bet. You may pay a little for shipping, but you won't be putting any extra gas in your car.

Yes, I've been breaking mint sets but it's the years with the "satin" coinage that stumps me.... Thank you all for helping me!

Did it ever occur to you that they sold all that they had?

The idea of a "coin shop" is sell for a profit. Not stock up waiting several years for one buyer to come in looking for something that is three years old.

well there are alot of different types of coin shops with different types of coin shop owners.....owners, just like the rest of us, are coin junkies and will carry alot of the coins that they themselves find attractive, although as a shop they will have a larger variety.....that doesn't mean that they will have every coin though, especially one that does not have alot of people looking for it actively, like relatively newer dime rolls. Keep looking and you will find it eventually....maybe e-bay?.....there are lots of trustworthy people selling on there if you are careful enough to find them. Good luck

I mentioned that they didn't have a single roll...during 2012-02-22. Regardless, your consultation has no relevance to my anterior words.
Acquiring three-year-old rolls is one of the minimum actions that a possible customer could expect to achieve. On another plane, a roll from the 1940s would be a contrary extent.
That's your idea of a coin shop. To my gusto, a coin shop should operate primarily for the people. Furthermore, it should be recognized as a hobby.
I'm accustomed to most of the shops in small, Argentine neighborhoods. Where one can walk in and order practically any exotic and/or illegal thing...and the gerent will definitely cede upon the interested part's request. The majority of those Argentine shops is not present to make a profit; the establishments are present as a generous and humble gesture towards the grand part of the public. In parallel to these things, the possible proprietors maintain their physical bodies alive by simply adhering themselves to maneuvers that possess more naturalness. I suppose that one should live in certain Argentine region(s), to better acknowledge and remember natural contrasts.

Numerous people are actively looking for a 1992 1C Close AM; however, I wouldn't expect them to consider attending three coin shops for the possible acquisition.

People will be amazed how few moderns of all dates are actually out there. They aren't missed because no one is out there looking for them. These ultra-moderns you're looking for are probably "in the woodwork" a little but there is simply no supply of the older moderns. If even one collector in a thousand went down to the corner shop to find a nice attractive 1969 quarter the supply would be exhausted and most of those collectors would have to go without.

Non satin choice Unc ultra-moderns will also be a little tough.

THAT'S what I'm finding... what's even more amazing is that MANY so-called "coin-dealers" on ebay didn't even know what I was talking about, quite a few even got nasty as they thought I was wasting there time!! (I think they thought I was referring to the quality of there coins, i.e. "satin" ---- that really frustrated/angered me...

You guys check your pocket change lately? I've been finding a ton o' 'State Quarters' (going back to '99) in really nice condition. I suppose many of the folks that were hoarding these are finally deciding to release them back into circulation.....

If I were the OP, I would go to the largest coin show I could find and go through mint sets until you found one you liked. Perhaps a local store or three could be a substitute. You can still get quite nice coins this way with some patience. Good luck...Mike

He wants the uncirc's and not 'satins' Mike. Can't find 'em in sets after '05.......

Regular rolls of coins? Original rolls from release?
