This item is not absolutely a new acquisition but I received it when PCGS finished my 5 and 10 cent first issue fractionals. They must have felt sorry for me after waiting 4 months for them. Has anyone else received samples similar to this ?
When you joined PCGS they include this Sample note with a Book as well...Hope they sent it to you? I joined a few years back and received the same thing...nice note. For what they charge for membership to have notes graded, it seems like they should send a "few samples"..lol
Agree 100%. Oh I forgot to mention that my friend Ray gave me a pair of two dollar bills accompanied with the Bicentennial Stamp Issues: Valley Forge, Cornwallis's surrender, Washington crossing the Delaware and the signing of the Declaration of Independence. All beautiful.
Very nice! I can't believe that you have a silver certificate error note. I've watched some of those on Heritage and they start getting expensive.
my three newest.. 100 and 50 from circulation.. the 50 and 100 are kinda beat up.. look better in the pics then in person.. sorry for the glare...
i got this at a coins shop for $4 he didn't think much of it being a star note... was that a good deal?
Great score for $4! BTW: You guys should buy '57 Silver Certs in quantity! A lot of times you can find '57's in CHCU for maybe 5 bucks each when you buy 5-10 at a time. It's not the rule, but they literally made billions of those! I've even seen a straps of a 100 go for $175 or so, in VF or better. I got this beautiful green seal Fractional today(Saturday) in the mail. These don't pop up nearly as often as Red seals, so you have to make your move while you can. I've seen these green seals in AU-CU go for $125-$150+. I really paid way more than I should of, but I've been looking for one in a mid to high VF or better for a while. (I paid $49.99 shipped)
Nice notes everybody. It's good to see new acquisitions. As plain as this next note may appear, it may have significant lineage....which I will explain later.
i got these from someone who recently was in the US. He did not want to do the effort to return them to the bank, because its was onlt $10 in total, so he gave them to me. Nothing special about them as far as i have seen, but going to keep them anyway.
I already had one of these from a couple of years back, and I bought another. Days after purchasing this, the BEP now has it marked as SOLD OUT. Lucky Money-Bamboo Note I also have a set of these from a purchase directly from the BEP, and bought this second set from an eBay sale. The BEP's Premium Historical Portfolio of the last of the small heads, and the first of the large heads (1995-1996) And this note was a gift to me from my friend John Spinelli (owner CGA Notes). 2012 FUN Show Sample ......also, I am now using a new scanner. Went from using an HP to a CANON.
Nice notes Steve and Ron. Ron, I finally got a new purchase as well, and wouldn't you know that it is also a fractional! Only have pics from my phone, but let me see if I can upload them. Series 1 5 cent fractional in VF
I received this note today. It's a first day of issue with a Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Currency Paying Teller stamp.
Thanks Ron. I couldn't agree more with your statement about the fractionals. This pickup has renewed my interest in the fractionals, so I think I am going to keep an eye out for them. The guy I bought this one from had a bunch more but they were in either worse condition, or more than I could afford this past weekend. He also had a $1,000 and $500 note that I might spring for. Both were in XF.
