I cant figure out why a person that searched halves would mark them with a orange or blue or black or green marker on the "E" or on the tail of the eagle? If the searcher that does this please answer.

Sure is frustrating seeing all these halves marked up.

    oh yeah i searched a box today..........skunk other than a 2004

About $1200 in halves today, cleared out half a county (aside from the CWRs that I was told were dumps and the very few branches that would only put out if I had an account). Someone's been hitting the area hard, as it was just about bone-dry and someone at every branch knew what was going on. Most finds were from trays. There were hardly any BWRs around, and the ones that I searched were skunk. Total: 13 40% halves, 1 90% half, about 30 banks cleared out, and a sweet zipper deposit bag!

Also got a box of dimes for the weekend, stay tuned!

Edit: Also pulled a 2003-P, 2006-P, 2010-D, and a '78 Ike. And what should I look out for in the dimes? Any valuable errors or rare dates?

I don't get why people mark them. Only thing I can figure is to track them movement through the system. I guess you could see if they show up at another bank you are buying from.

I have had boxes with almost every coin marked in all sorts of places in every color. I enjoy pulling silver from those and I have too.

Seems like a big waste of time to mark them. Must take hours and several hundred dollars in marking pens to mark them the way I have seen some of them marked. :)

    box of dimes - SKUNK
That makes 5 boxes of dimes in a row as skunks with the exception of a 57 Canadian dime.
We seem to be having better luck with nickels.
I have another box of halves coming on Monday. I hope to find my first silver in a BWR box.

2 boxes of nickels (these are the first ones I have ever searched). 3 War nickels, 30 pre 1960, 10 dimes, and 1 penny. I am not sure what to do with the pre 1960 ones, so I put them in plastic tubes for now. I ordered 3 boxes of halves for Monday, but they are only going to be able to deliver 1. How do you know if a 42 nickel is silver or not?

42 war nickels will have a P D or S mint mark over the dome of monticello on the reverse

Speaking of the past few posts, 2 things that really suck:

    1) finding a 42 nickel then finding out it's not a war nickel

    2) seeing a silver colored edge of a roll of dimes only to find out it's canadian or a 5p uk coin

    #2 reeeeeally sucks :(

So this morning I stop at a bank that sometimes produces silver and the teller tells me a little old lady just cashed in $130 in rolls of half dollars. Needless to say, I purchased every roll with high expectations. Normally, I would walk to the car and search them but this time I decided I wasn't going to look but instead take them home, tells the kids and let them have at it.

We took a guess to see how many silvers we would find in the rolls - if any - and in the end my daugther was the closest.

She said 22 silvers, the lowest guess we made.

In the end, I'm now the proud new owner of $130 worth of 1992 half dollars

What a let down haha - but thats how it goes

Oh trust me I know, but it seems like every canadian dime I get are nickel 1968s (what a tease) and 1969s lol

    Anywho, here's my weekly results:

    Boxes:
    Dimes (2): 1x Roosie; 3x Roosie
    Nickels (1): 1x 1935 Buffalo
    Pennies (1): 2x 1900 and 1888 IH (both pretty rough), Wheat x20
    Halves (1): 2x 40%

    Rolls:
    Quarters (52 rolls): Skunk
    Dimes (82 rolls): 1x Roosie
    Nickels (71 rolls): 1x War, 2004-S Proof
    Pennies (72 rolls): Wheat x26
Halves ($17.50 loose and BWR): Skunk

Picked up 1 clad Ike as well. Meh week for rolls, but I did find a silver quarter and dime in the reject tube.

And TONS of Foreign from this week (about half of this is from the reject tube): 54c CD, 25p UK, 1p 50c Mexico, 75c Panama (anyone else get a ton of Panama?), 5c South Africa, 7p Dominican Republic, 20 euro c Spain, 1 peso Spain, 10c Peru, 1c Barbados, 5gr Poland, 10c Ecuador, 10c S. Korea, and 2gr Austria

I did find a possible error coin in the reject tube as well, a quarter that looked like it's missing part of it's nickel cladding, or it was removed by PMD. I'll post a pic in a bit.

Not a terrible week I guess

Soon enough you'll know when the bright shiny edge is a Canuck clad dime. The edges are slightly different than US dimes.
