I bought this 1943 Merc today. I know the pic is blurry, but is it FSB?

Then I must have some super vision because I can make out splits but I didnt want to say anything until I get a better picture.

PumpkinPie, I don't believe this is FSB. I believe the FSB is determined by the three sets bands that cross horizontally in the middle of the fasces. They all have to be fully distinct and separated from each other, and result from well-struck, well defined dies. I would say that I can not see the distinct separation needed in the bands, and the strike of the coin, from the photo provided, doesn't seem to be exceptionally well-struck with defined dies.

You must! The bottom band appears to have a partial split. But I think we can both agree, the image needs to be better.

I have a45-s micro s in NGC MS 67* that I swear has FSB. The difference on the NGC price guide is huge, $390 vs $4780. So I bring it to my B+M and he says close but no cigar. Next I check a bunch of sites and it seems that to be FSB it also has to have the middle band struck well enough to be "rounded" rather than just flat. My choices (other than just being happy with what I purchased at a fairly good price) is bust it out and resubmit it, send it for a reevaluation for FSB, send it to PCGS either raw or crossover. I think I'll show it to some dealers at a local show tomorrow and see what they think. If I can get a good pic I'll post it here later.

Given that photo and your question, do you know what full bands are?

Thanks! Now I know one from a picture rather than just a description.
