My observations on this topic: You send an invoice to NGC and they are much more on the ball in getting it done ASAP. Any problems or additions can be easily addressed. With PCGS the slightest problem and they put a hold on the order, everything has to be perfect. And the order is written in stone at that point. If you want it upgraded to a faster tier, not a chance. NGC has no problem doing that. And where NGC will ship the coins back in a light cardboard box, PCGS insists on shipping in their heavy plastic box which adds lots of weight especially with overnight parcels. One coin, and they will do that. Anyone else have observations on one versus the other? Thanks.
From among the two, NGC has always been known for having the best customer service. Never even been a question of that.
NGC has the intelligent sounding woman with the British accent when you call them, so they have to be better.
I do not remember that gal's name, but their service (mostly through her) has been among the best I have ever received from anyone at any time - ever. I have never dealt with PCGS, but I cannot imagine them as being NGC's equal.
When dealing with NGC thru email, I direct my inquiries to Melissa Pearce NGC Customer Service Manager. She responds promptly and with all the information I need. I submit to NGC as an ANA member and so can't track my orders online but an email to Melissa gets me the status quickly.
I can picture that Routine! LOL! As for the question, NGC seems a bit "friendlier" but I have also had good results from PCGS. I've gotten some fairly "nasty" emails from the Geezer's favorite PCGS Person which really got my blood boiling but give it enough time and that will change. Everybody else I've dealt with has been fairly accomodating which is why I keep going back.
Never spoke in person to that woman with the British accent. They all sound standard American, not even Southern. Maybe PCGS could up the ante by getting someone like Pierce Brosnan to record their automatic recorded voice.
"We're holding your coins hostage, pal, until you fork over more dough!" Or, "We've just about had enough guff from you. We're taking you down!"
I'll second that motion! Lisa is more than willing to help you out and is really coin "knowledgeable" meaning that she understands the importance of "your" coins to "you". I've always been impressed and just a little bit in love after speaking with her!
What do you know, a woman who actually is a coin expert! And I thought it was a guy's hobby, where jewelry and art is for girls.
