My newest and one of the prettiest coins I've ever seen. This is a real beauty. Saber dance.

How much do those catalogs usually go for? I saw 4 copies of each at the local Half Price Books the other day (for $30 apiece, I think). I very rarely run into anything <1800, but was thinking about grabbing a copy for those rare times.

Thank you! I'm quite proud of it ... it matches my 1935 in MS66 PCGS quite closely ... also a premium coin.

    Best Regards,

    George

Certified in an OGH. Struck at the Heaton Mint for Canada, signified by the small H mintmark below the date. This piece sure looks like a 65RB to me, given the super luster on both sides and few signs of contact, but regardless of grade it's a super coin. It looks like the usually seen C2 portrait and cataloged at $300 in 63RB at $300 in my 6-yr-old Charlton catalog! (I know, gotta get a new one; I just ordered the 2012 edition along with the new Haxby Guide Book; has anybody else ordered that yet/have comments?).

    Enjoy! :hail:

    Best Regards,

    George

Newest coin added to the collection, from Clark Smith. Two year issue, slightly better date of the two. Looks considerably nicer than MS62 at first glance, but closer inspection suggests it's graded about right. This completes my Norweigan "mini" gold type collection. I already had the 1902 and 1910 Norway 20 Kronors, both in MS65. Would love to have gotten this one in MS65 but the price is double what this one was.

Every time I see a nice 1 Kyat, I think about assembling a topical coin set of animals. Of course the 1 Kyat must take the place of the peacock.

    my new ones:
    edward i canterbury 2.jpg
edward i (1272-1307), penny, 1.42g, class 2a (january to may 1280) canterbury mint
obv: facing bust of king, trifoliate crown, +EDW R' ANGL' DNS HYB
rev: long cross with trefoil of pellets in each angle, CIVITAS CANTOR
    (s. 1419, n. 1014)

    edward i kingston.jpg
    edward i (1272-1307), penny, 1.33g, class 9b (1299-1301) kingston-upon-hull mint
obv: facing bust of king, trifoliate crown, +EDW R DNS HYB
rev: long cross with trefoil of pellets in each angle, VILL KYNGESTON
    (s. 1426, n. 1037/1)

the kingston penny would be an equivalent to a key date. the kingston mint had a combined estimated mintage of 250,000, which included pennies, halfpennies, and farthings.

Oh, BTW, I received the new Haxby Guide Book today and am very impressed with it! The large cent above catalogs in MS63RD (closest to 64RB, I figure) at $315. There are 10 GRADES with PRICES for the large cent and many other circulating issues. WOW! I also got the new Charlton 2012 edition, let's check ... hmmm ... OK, also a VAST IMPROVEMENT ... I notice that the Vickie 5 cents have 12 GRADES with PRICES, including Specimen coinage. There are also LOTS more photos of the many nifty Canadian varieties than in my old 2008 edition. OK, 1882-H ... also 12 prices ... $300 in 63RD. Harder to read, though ... the Haxby uses shaded lines for every other row in the tables, easy on the eyes, and a darker font. Just from a cursory examination, I gotta give the edge to Haxby.

    1c Canada 1903 Edward VII PR65RB PCGS

So here's one of those "entombed" coins ... a 1903 Edward VII Canadian large cent. Jeez, I have seen much worse than this in RD holders. Maybe I should free it from its slumber. To further compare Haxby and Charlton, the Haxby Guide Book shows a price in 64RD/65RD of $200/$750 ... no price for 65RB, darnit! The Charlton says $200/$600 in 65RD. Trends (CCN) is $200/$500. Anyway ... enjoy!

I purchased 2 1953 Great Britain uncirculated mint sets. The first one I opened had a coin fall to the floor.
There was a crack in the plastic holder so I took all the coins out and am going to purchase air tites for
them. The second one is in tact showing no cracks. This will be treated very gingerly! Just to be politicaly
correct do I label these in my album as England, Great Britain, or United Kingdom?---John
