Bring some, but nothing super valuable. Make sure you have a place to lock 'em up too.

I'd be wary of bringing them. But foremost, I'd wait to see what your living situation is before taking your coins with you.

I would take a look at your surroundings first. Also remember, most college students are broke. Anything valuable laying around may go missing.

Put them in a safe deposit in a bank nearest your school.

Do not bring any valuable coins or anything that you wouldn't really mind if it got stolen. I just graduated last year from college, so I know how college kids are, some will take almost anything they can get their hands on. My brother is still in school and he's told me plenty of times of things that have gone missing after him an his roommates have had people over their apartment.

When I was in college, even on the fourth floor of my dorm room, some lowlife stole my record player (this was something you have never heard of that was used to play something called LP record albums). In an unlocked gate, up the stairs, nab the goods, back down (like look a student moving stuff), out the gate, zip zip, gone. I would leave your coins at home. Locked up safely.

I would definately NOT take them with you. Just keep some photos of the coins on your computer, that way you can see them whenever you want.

I am in a similar situation with starting college in August. I am considering renting a safe deposit box at our local bank.

Leave them with a trusted family member. I moved out when I was 17 and found myself strapped for money. Actually took 30 mercury dimes out and bought taco bell with it.

Lock them up, preferably at home. I wouldn't take anything valuable to school, especially if you're in a dorm room.

Actually my 3 year old daughter is the perfect one for me to give my coins to if I wanted them safe. Even she can't find them where ever she hides them. I gave her a Presidential dollar to play with one day, we haven't found it as of yet and I swear we've flipped the house a few times during cleaning, hasn't turned up yet. :thumb:
