    2002 Proof

Well I thought I was gonna get another skunk, but I ended up pulling this 2002 Silver Proof. My first silver proof! :hail: I'll have to weigh it tomorrow at work, but it has that silver 'ping' sound, and the edge is completely white/silver. At first I thought it was one of those 'fake' silver edge halves that I see every now and then that people paint.

Was cool to pull this out of the box. Sorry I only have my scanner for pics and can't get a good shot of the edge with my camera.

^ Nice find. How do these end up in circulation? Some kid taking it out of his coin collection from gramps to spend?

People in the southeast are less educated when it comes to these things I think. That and the fact that it's typically less dense so there are more coins around to be had by those searching.

I'm allowed to say that because i lived there long enough and lots of friends and family still do...

While at work a little while back, I broke open a roll of nickels. I noticed a "weird" sound looked down and it was all Buffalo and silver nickels. One of which was a 1937 D......no 3 legs though!

$200 BWR halves: one 90% and two 40%
    $13.50 loose halves: nothing.

last week from that bank I found my first silver half and I've gotten 6 from there now... guess I need to order a few boxes from them and try out the new area.

Apparently, the people who supply my bank with half dollars ran out. Ran out! How do you run out of half dollars? Where do they all go? Anyway, she says hopefully they'll deliver some tomorrow. That would really bite to not have boxes to search through this week.

2 boxes of Halves: Skunk on Silver. Box 2 had my 2nd 1986 Ellis Island Commerative.

However, the boxes are just bad lately for me. I need a mega producer. This is getting stale!

Went to a bunch of banks today, most only had a couple dollars of halves, with maybe a total of 5 CWR and 4 BWR here and there. One bank had a bunch of re-rolled BWRs! Total finds: 2 40%ers, both loose.

Also asked for big dollars, searched maybe $40 worth. 1.5 CWR and the rest loose; nothing interesting.

4 boxes of halves coming tomorrow, will have to pick 'em up in lots of two.

    Today; $300 BWR's, 1 40%er.
Bag of dimes ($670) produced 4 silvers, including a '42 Merc.
    Boxes of dimes (3) produced 4 (Including a '63 Canada), 0, and 0 respectively.

While picking up the last box of dimes, asked if they had any halves or large dollar coins, they say no, and go to the vault to get my change. Some guy walks up and asks if the coin machine takes large dollars, I pop my head up and say "No, but I do, haha" and buy two ikes off him for $2. He proceeds over to the Penny arcade, and I hear silver quarters falling into the metal holder. Walk over, ask for his permission to look through it, pull out 1 40% silver half, and 3 silver quarters, tell him it's silver, ask him what he wants, he says 5 bucks, I reply that would be ripping him off, and give him $15 while telling him it's worth around $20. He has the biggest grin on his face and so do I. Gotta love random little finds.

Also picked up $176 in $2 bills, pulled several red seals out, a '53, '53C, and 3x '63's. Not a bad day.

    Box of Halves - Skunk

Another box comes today, tommorow, and Friday so we will see. Almost two grand from this new bank so far in BWR and nothing. I picked up one partial box the other day with six rolls already purchased but the weird thing was it was a square box and two rolls were gone from the bottom row. Chance that maybe someone pulled some enders?

Merc...your luck astounds me! Also, I don't know if you got my message last night or not, but....

SILVER DROUGHT IS OVER!!! I pulled 2x Roosies, 1 1958D and 1 1964D! Went through about $120 in dimes, gonna go through another $100 tomorrow! Wooo!

Also, I happened to get a clad Florida proof quarter. It was heavily smudged so I gave a quick wipe with the shirt and it looks a ton better. However, the business side of the quarter is the side that is MOST messed up =( That makes two proofs so far, the other being Maryland. I think I am going to put together a proof 50-state collection. Silver if I can, after I finish my 1932-1964 WQD series. Also heavily considering a Mercury or Roosevelt dime series. Gah! I can't pick!

I heard it this AM, congrats.

I've found a few clad state quarter proofs lately too, they seem to be semi-common, more common than silver, at least, in nickel boxes.

BTW, you should totally go Merc Dimes. :p How can you resist them? They're stunning.

I heard you should keep halves that are newer than 2001 or something because theyre not meant for circulation? is that true?

3 boxes of halves, 7/40%, 1947D Walker, 1951S, 1963D Franklins. 1987P, 2002,2003,2004,2005,2006,2008,2009 NIFC. I found 5 clads that have different degrees of rainbow toning. I also found a coin that is a tail on both sides. I was pretty excited about that one until I dropped it to see if it was real and it made a distinct "thunk". Took longer than usual because of what I learned on here. I looked at every one of them rather than just checking the edges.
