I have two 1880 Newfoundland cents and I noticed they look different in the date. So I checked into it and found there is a scarce "Oval 0" variety. Is the coin on the left one of these?
NO WAY!! Well the grade isn't nearly as good as that Heritage one.... so I don't expect anything near THAT!
Yeah but if it's real then I'm sure it's easily $1000+. It definitely is the nice of the two you have fortunately. I'd get it verified and slabbed.
Holy moley. I had no idea. I've never had a coin slabbed before... I like them raw. But I will look into it.
I've never gotten a coin slabbed before either, but if I found something like this I definitely would!
If you're not a member of NGC or PCGS, you can have a trusted local dealer submit it for you. You need to make sure the dealer is "trusted".
Well thank you everyone for the replies!!! Even though that round 0 variety is so beat up it is special to me now b/c I never would have noticed the oval on the other if I hadn't had them both! (but I'm very happy the oval is the nicer! lol!)
