Is anyone interested in the recently announced America's Founding Fathers set at the BEP? I think I'll be ordering a set.

What Alexander Hamilton and Benjamin Franklin got kicked out of the Founding Fathers club?

I'll give it some thought. There doesn't seem to be much of an aftermarket on this sort of thing.

I ordered mine this morning. Took a while to get through on the BEP site, so someone else out there must have wanted some too. :)

I wonder how many sets they have for this. For 19.95, it doesn't seem like it's priced into outer space.

I believe the description says 9000 sets and only offered during 2012

I bought a couple just on the off chance of getting good serials.
I bought some of the 2010 $2 single note collection and received this

I also ordered two sets hoping to luck into a cool serial number........that, and I'm a sucker for everything from the BEP.

Agreed. I think the BEP has some under appreciated stuff. It doesn't shine like coins, so its not as appealing to some people.

I would love to see some collaboration sets between BEP and US Mint coins or USPS stamps

They have done plenty in the past. I think the coolest was the Buffalo silver dollar with a repo 1899 $5 chief note. I think it also included a stamp or two. btw the BEP used to make stamps, but it was passed off to another company a bit ago.

I bought two sets myself. I love matching serial numbers! A cool serial number? shhhh I'll be surprised if it doesn't get lost in the mail.

I'm not a currency collector by any means, but I am trying to understand the appeal here. In effect, a person is paying about $20.00 to get $3.00 worth of currency. That is over a 600% premium. Also, given the fact it is fiat money, it will most probably be worth nothing after the monetary apocalypse. It just seems like a lose-lose situation to me.

...compared to paying how much for a shiny piece of metal that's only worth 25 cents? It's about collecting. Collecting things is never logical; just fun.

Believe me, I'm the biggest opponent to the Federal Reserve on here, but the B.E.P. also made Silver and Gold Certs which is paper all the same. It cost the government an insane amount of money to make these fiat pieces of cotton & linen, and I'm not talking about the material cost, but the hundreds of years of tradition, and the zillions of hours that goes into these beautiful pieces of numismatic history. If you take a poll, I doubt your going to have Hamilton scoring higher than Jefferson on the paper forum.
I had a chance to tour both facilities (Denver Mint, and B.E.P. DC), and enjoy both coins and paper and I honestly can't say I favor one over the other? They are both currently fiat, and both have their pros and cons.
BTW: I just picked up the latest P/D rolls of 2012 ATB, and it was far from face my friend, and don't even get me started with those flipin hockey pucks!

    Happy about a happy medium?
