lkeigwin recently asked which coin you think has the most beautiful design. My question is now: Which U.S./colonial coin/token do you think has the ugliest design? There are obviously many different definitions and opinions on ugly. So share what you think I think one of the ugliest (scariest) coins is the 1793 strawberry leaf cent
Ike's are one of the ugliest in my opinion, although the reverse is okay, it's that obverse, that head, Ike did not have a good head for a side profile shot. But that doesn't stop me from collecting them. :thumb:
I agree rodeoclown. I do not like regular circulation ikes very much, but proof ikes are quite nice. Unfortunately I don't have any of those D:
Can you imagine if you found an error version of one of those that made it even worse? Frankly, I have seen damaged coins that makes the person portrayed look like the Central Park mugging victim, or Joan Rivers before plastic surgery.
I just pretend that the 1995 Olympics Dollar is just a picture of Christopher Columbus, cause that who it looks like.
That special olympics coin design is so irresponsible. Eunice Kennedy Shriver was not an ugly woman, and the portraiture of her on the coin does her a hugh injustice. For one, they are taking her at 75 and putting her in a side view that is extremely unflattering, as well as doing her hair in a fashion that does not compliment it whatsoever. She founded the Special Olympics in 1968 when she was about 47 years old. Her front view looks much better, and some of her earlier pictures show quite a striking woman. Her facial features definitely favor the Kennedy family. Someone should be shot for doing that coin. She should not be mocked here or elsewise because her "likeness" on that coin is not pleasant to look at. I think most people are not well represented at 75 years old.
Looks like something out of Haunting In Connecticut! This one always freaked me out when I started collecting -
I agree except for the Franklin half. I like those, especially the reverse when there are full bell lines
