its weird though when i look at my summary of my items that i am selling it shows me as a power seller but when i bring up an auction of mine it doesnt have the power seller icon. hmmmm maybe auctions from now on will have it.

I'm not seeing it on your auctions or your "my world" page. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a delay in getting it propagated through to those spots. I seem to remember that happening back when I was a power seller (probably close to 10 years ago by now, so most likely everything's changed anyhow).

You have to maintain a sales amount to maintain your power seller status. If you stop selling notes or have some other negative account status they will remove the power seller designation on your account after a period of time. Since you have recently been selling a lot and the total has risen above a certain dollar amount in a period of time they welcome you to power seller status. I myself have been a powerseller in the past, but then it goes away when you don't sell enough to maintain that status. Kinda deflates the fun of attaining that if you are an infrequent seller of enough auctions that total the amount eBay deems warrants the status.

so i called ebay. of course it was an outsourced call and the guy didn't speak english very well. from what he tells me is that the icon wont show up on my auctions but when someone does a search for an item similar to mine the power seller items come up first. sorry but i don't believe that because i see plenty of sellers with much less feedback than me that are power sellers and the icon shows up near their name on their auctions. oh well. got excited for nothing.

I too noticed a discrepency in how and when eBay puts the status on your pages. It really doesn't mean a lot other than you maintained a certain sales quota in a (3 month?) period of time. Once sales fall below that, after (approx 3 mo.) then eBay will notify you that they are removing your power seller status unless you maintain sales.

what the guy told me was total bs. i did a search of the last auction that i put up. they show the top rated sellers items and my auction didnt even come up in the search at all. now i didnt put the exact title of my auction but it was close enough.

It's all part of the game at eBay, you pay to play and the more people pay to be noticed or have their auctions listed above others, plus the more volume they sell, the more they fall to the top of the pile.

yeah i read all that. i also read the benefits and since i am only a bronze power seller i have 24hr email support or better hours for telephone support. big friggin whoop. honestly all i would like is the power seller icon next to my feedback in my auction listings.

My point of view as an eBay buyer, the status doesn't hurt. It's not a deal breaker, unless the other guy has more for less with a positive rating and some longevity.
Do I filter my searches based on power sellers? No, but again it doesn't hurt.

Like Krispy said, being a power seller only indicates volume of sales. It doesn't reflect quality of your items; some of the most notorious distributors of Chinese "replicas" were/are power sellers. I think the "top rated seller" designation is more important... at least it shows that buyers are satisfied with your product.

well i guess i have to keep selling. i have 1906 feedback over 11 years and have 100% rating. so i think thats pretty good. should be over 2000 positive in the next couple of weeks

well now i am a top rated seller. that has some nice benefits. best one is i get discounted shipping rates when i do my shipping through ebay(paypal). now i am happy. and when you got to my auctions i do have the top rated seller icon now. yipee!!!!!!
