that's why when I bid, I put the max I want to pay, if I win, great, if not....that's great too!

I reported someone for this a couple days ago for shill bidding because I found a bidder with nearly 90% "Bid activity with this seller" bidding against me. I really wanted the coin but the price reached too high because of this bidder.

I haven't seen any activity on the person's account for a couple days, but it remains to be seen if it's just a coincidence or if they were penalized.

I will bet nothing happens. You have zero proof he has done anything wrong and not even good clues that he might be shill bidding. Try reading post #27

I don't have evidence besides the high percentage, but Ebay can find evidence. I am looking through his buyer feedback history and there appears to be several accounts with a high percentage of bids.

It is worth a shot to get a potential shill bidder off the site.

You don't even have a high percentage of anything except that the bidder likes the seller. Since you apparently did not read GDJMSP's post as I suggested, I will copy it for you to read.

Actually I did read his post, but that doesn't change my argument above. What's up your reverse today?

The statistics of a high percentage of bids with a particular seller leads me to the belief of a possible shill. Ebay can then investigate it further and do things such as compare IP addresses.

Yeah, I dont think anyone disputes that there are regular customers for some sellers, and I'm sure that there are plenty of paranoid people out there that see shills behind every losing or repeat bid. But my opinion is that thinking that shill bidding is extremely rare and that ebay has the problem in hand is naive. I personally doubt Ebay even really cares, as long as there is little concrete evidence available to its regular users to prove it or get upset about it-- I think that was half the reason they hid names of buyers. I can think of several ways to get past any safeguards they might have, and I haven't even devoted much thought to it.

Which can be explained away by saying you might have had another computer from same wifi access point or public computer, besides it is so easy to ip spoof or just bid using a different terminal (i.e smart phone) anyone doing shill bidding would certainly do that. Besides Ebay has little incentive to chase these sellers down since it inflates the final price = more $$$ for ebay.

Oh, but they absolutely do and it does not take Joe Blow reporting them to do it. To repeat myself, if you don't believe me, try it - or you can just find Captainkirk thread where it happened to him.
