Hello---I have Dansco albums for my main type collections, Lincoln Memorials, Buffalo Nickles,
Indian Head Cents but I also have some odds and ends. Nice set of steel wheats, '60 large and small
date cent set, all 4 '71 Ikes, a nice Morgan and Peace dollar, you get the idea. I want to get these out
of the 2x2 cardboard flips and into Air Tite holders. Does Air Tite make a book with pages , say 5
or 7 cents, same for halfs and dollars? I have a real top line 3 ring binder thats zip up with vinyl pages
now with the 2x2 s in the vinyl pages. Or would it be just as good to put the Air Tites in the vinyl pages.
I can buy new virgin vinyl to be safe. I only have maybe 50 or so odd ball pieces so I really don't want
an Air Tite book for each type of coin.---Ideas?--thanks---John

Good question - I'll be watching the thread for answers.

I purchased an Airtite album from JP's corner. The exterior is simple vinyl, but the interior allows a mix and match of velvet(?) covered sleeves that hold various sized Airtites. I use it to hold the random "valuable" coins of mine that don't/won't have an album. I started collecting a few early commemoratives, and they're going in it as well as my 7070 album (I'm so glad I bought a 7070 album). I love learning the history of PM and coinage. I stumbled upon the commemoratives, and some of them are breathtaking.

Coins in Dansco albums will tone, beginning with the edges. If you don't want toned coins you should remove them and put them in air-tites. This will slow down the process.

My only dislike the velvet which results in scruff getting all over the airtite coin holders, also in some cases the holders don't fit in properly into the open slots as a result you might have to force it in there resulting in situations where the airtite can open.

If you don't want them to tone use intercept shield albums. Some people complain about the price but the cost of one is usually a fraction of what one coin costs that goes in it. Also if you like dark green pages. I think Intercept's US type album is better than the 7070. It also protects the coins better. But, everybody buys 7070s. To each their own.

Well I've got myself into the same bind. I put all my Eisenhower Dollars into Airtites with an inner black ring. I did this thinking my BCW 9 pocket pages would securely hold them. Well they don't. The pockets are just about 1/4" too large. So I'm at a loss for an album for my 31 plus BU, MS, and Proof Ikes all in airtites. I agree with Vess1. Any advice?
