I read it was an open design competition. I agree its quite a brilliant layout.

Quite clever! I look forward to buying a lot of the current British coinage on the secondary market. The mint wants a lil' bit too much for most of the commemoratives and sets (IMO).

can you ost a pic of the reverse? i would like to see it. also, there is no "class d" in edwardian pence. i believe your is class 3g (minted in 1280-1281).

    NEWPs from Sunday coin show.

Here is a 1960 Denmark 5 Kroner with a mintage of 410,000 commemorating Frederik IX silver wedding anniversary.

The coin is much more lustrous and pleasing to the naked eye than this photo suggests. It has 0.4372 oz ASW but is worth more than silver.

    I also got the 1600 & 1700 World coin catalogs. ;)

    sorry for hijacking this thread.....

first, the side fleurs on the crown are spread, which is found on class 3g. on class 3d, the edge is in more of a straight line. second, the reverse legend on yours is "CIVITAS LONDON" which means it was minted in london. here is a class 3d from bristol.
    edward i bristol.jpg
the reverse legend reads "VILLA BRISTOLLIE". notice also, that the (when viewing the coin" right edge of the crown and fleur is more of a straight line. your edge curves, which is called a spread crown, which is first introduced in class 3g. i know my coin is a little rough, but it is the only class 3d in my collection.

Unfortunately If you are trying to buy non gold silver coins they are one of only few countries that have issued platinum/palladium NCLT's.

I like this one this is white gold (gold alloyed with palladium)
