So I am going thru some of my penny rolls that I got from the bank and was pleased when I came across a crisp shiney 1965 penny. It was in beautiful condition. And than, a roll later, I found a 1917 S penny! I was totally shocked when I saw it. I just had to share this with someone who I knew would appreciate it like I do(my 14yr old is now calling me a nerd. lol) I wish I had a better camera to take pics on but this one isn't too bad.)

Your son is making fun of your hobby? Shun! Find his favorite thing and make fun of it ;)

Very nice score there. That for sure is an earlier cent to be found. The earliest I have found is a 1926-S.

    Congrats :thumb:

It's my daughter, lol. I told her that I could be doing something much worse than collecting coins and that shut her up pretty fast! I still can't believe that I found the 1917 S!!! That is now my oldest coin and it may be in ok condition but I think its absolutely gorgeous! :D

Oops, I meant to say Daughter

I can think of many of these hobbies that can 'shut her up pretty fast' Haha. I know my friends collection of taxidermy animal heads scares the living wits out of me.

  7. Nice find congrates.
It pays to look at every coin you can come in contact with as you never know when someone has to give up a coin they ment to keep but needed just that much at the time it was spent.
People today are faceing hard times and many have to give up coins they have kept for years.
Pawn shops are a good place to look many end up there because of melt value one gets.
Your gain will be the lose of another but if you dont buy it someone will.
I live in a small town and most of these shops wont sell to me because those with deeper pockets than i have ask these shops to contact them if good coins come in and they pay more than the shops would ask of a walk in.

Thank you everyone. I'm still all giddy with excitement! I still don't know a whole lot about collecting, waiting for my red book as we speak, but I am learning and it is alot of fun. I look at coins in a whole new light now:D

Searching cent rolls can be a lot of fun. Just wait until you find your first IHC. ;) I was pretty stoked, haha.
