Seems like you have a nice steady flow of boxes. Do you use a coin counter to cash in your halves or do you bag them up and send out to be counted?

    I would calculate as such;

    Revenue-expenses=profit/loss

    190-20=170

    Then revenue-expenses=profit/loss again..

    0-193=-193

    add together your two profits...

    170+-193=-23

    Expense of 23 dollars incurred.

I did some simple math.... Looks like the number of Posts on this Thread is over 18000.

    18000 / 7 = 2571 posts read per hour, if 1 hour a day for 7 days.

    2571 / 60 minutes = 42.8 posts read per minute! WOW!

This thread has doubled in size since I joined... and it was probably longer than an hour a day, my job at that point was basically sit in front of a computer and wait for customers to walk in the door, ha.

Ok Merc Crazy! Didn't think of that when I did the math....

My job is sitting at a computer all day too. Although customers don't walk in the door. I work from home, and my work comes to me through meetings and email. I work for IBM and handle 4 Accounts for them as Primary. I have to attend meetings every day, and the customers pass on their requests to me in these. Or, they email me their questions about this and that...

    I love my job!!!!

I do Database Systems Software Support on IBM Mainframe Computers across the country. Don't have to get all dressed up and out the door every morning!

    Awesome stuff, these computers!

My dress code, at least until 12 or so, is boxers and a tshirt. Haha, I wake up literally 5 minutes before my scheduled start time. And I make good money. Dream job for a 25 year old that still acts like he's 17.

I think I've derailed this thread enough. Post some finds.

Two of my regular banks cancelled on me so I had to go out and find new banks. The two new banks were the ones that gave me the awesome boxes. There are 2 other banks that I want to start ordering from but they wouldn't take my order over the phone. So I need to run by this weekend to meet them and say hi, then order the boxes for next week. We'll see how those turn out.

And yes, I dump my coins in a counter. I am in the middle of 6 TD Banks and another one is literally across the street from my husband's job. We try to spread the pain around so no TD Bank gets tired of us. And they're building another one right down the street from my house! It'll be perfect.

Oh and my other regular bank box was a total skunk. One more box later tonight (hubby got it from work) but I don't think it's going to be good. Those boxes haven't produced anything in weeks.

Box of halves 2-66' ken. Actually better than I thought it was going to be. The box had skunk written all over it. Lots of marked coins by several different searchers. Did get a couple of nice clads- 2007p and 2008p. Not a great week but I'm happy, just to have a gotten a couple pieces of silver. Send some of those 60 and 40 boxes up here vacookey.

Don't know if it's going to do any good, but I talked to my Brother-in-Law earlier today, who is a vice-president at one of our local banks. I asked him if he could check with the tellers on a daily basis, and "buy" "funny" coins out of their drawers. He said he would. I included a bit that if the tellers themselves are also collectors, not to override them with his authority.

I asked him mainly for Silver Dollars, Halves, Quarters and Dimes, preferably pre-1965. But told him as far as Silver Dollars and Halves, I'd like the "Ikes" and "Kennedy's" too!

    I'll let y'all know.

I went to a branch of my bank today and asked how long it would take to get a box of pennies. She said they have them there. So I got a box. Only been through 4 rolls so far. Found a 1955 and a 1958 in not too bad condition. I also found a solution to the problem of cashing them in. There is another bank here that has a coin sorter/counter in their lobby and it is free. Just dump in your coins and take the receipt to the teller. I think I'll open a savings account there so I won't feel guilty.

Be forwarned that you will take a hit on rolls you get that are short by using a coin counter. Some rolls I've gone through tonight have been over a penny but one roll was short 2 cents, for example. The machine may reject coins that are too worn, bent or corroded. Also, Canadian pennies seem to be fairly common and most coin counting machines will reject them so if you plan to recoup your entire box buying money like I do using a coin machine may not be for you. I just reroll everything by hand to avoid taking any loss. Also, I would ask your prospective bank if they have limits before opening an account. One of my banks has a coin counter but they have a notice up that it's not for commercial/business use. I interpret this to mean that they don't want one person cashing in bulk amounts or boxes worth of coins several times a week or something...
